kerr lake Striper fishing

Planning a trip tomorrow or Saturday. How’s the water look? Any hotspots area to target first thing in the morning to narrow down the search?

Plenty of stripers from Clarksville bridge to Eastland Creek went today and got almost a zero just one of those days where the fish didn't feed at all. Water clarity is good everywhere as far as I know, I don't think it matters where you go just keep rubbingnecking for the birds . Haven't heard anything about nutbush Creek could be loaded with fish I'm just not sure, good luck maybe I'll see you on the water

Well I have a seniors lifetime pass and I don't pay much attention to that but the ramps I go to have a machine you can pay with the credit card and I think the price is probably the same I'm going in just a little while so I will look and make sure I told you right if you don't hear back from me this evening what I said is correct. The fishing is decent right now had a really good day on Monday but Tuesday I stunk up the whole place hopefully today is better before the rain comes in tomorrow.

nice fish! I remember catching a 10lb striper in the Dan River in the 80's Caught a 43lb striper at Oregon Inlet on my boat in 2006 or 2007.

White bass have really started showing up good this year..we have caught several of them this year...Randal had em piled up in butchers the other

You're right I have had good luck with the white bass this year went today caught lots of stripers but not one white bass which is unusual hopefully I'll catch some tomorrow.

That was a heckuva stripe!! I am hoping to find someone to go with me up there this month...its aweful, have a boat but hard to find people who want to go when its cold!

I launch my boat every time I go can't stand the thought of my boat sitting in the water I realize that's a little crazy but it's just the way I've always been. I want my boat sitting where I can see it all the time from a window at my house.lol

I know this sounds crazy but I think I would wait for some sunshine completely backward from conventional wisdom but honestly the fish has been kind of slow with all these clouds for the last several days.

Nice one! So what's the common wisdom regarding the decrease in size of your average Striper on Kerr?

It started around 1988 there were poachers here and other lakes in the Virginia North Carolina area and they took big stripers out of here by the thousands, they got caught thank goodness also at the same time there was an estimated 5,000 striped bass that went through the dam and the turbines and ended up dead on the other side of the dam floating toward lake Gaston and last but not least the daily limit was way too generous eight fish per person per day. I'm not blaming fish and game because everyone in the 70s and '80s was just waking up to proper conservation and what it took to achieve that. Besides I'm not sure what's more fun catching 8 or 10 big fish are catching lots of smaller fish like we have today.

My grandfather had one on his wall caught in the late 60's near Clarksville that was 22lbs. wish I knew what happened to the mount.

Best fish I have seen on Kerr with this being my 3rd season on the lake. My PB was a fish a little over 30".

Good job a fish over 30 in in this lake is a big fish.
