Jing DOES have a valid point. Even now, Weaver still refuses any responsibility. Every doctor should have their freaking pagers on them at all times. Specially attendings.

I agree Kerrie should have been there to offer support and even though Jing May is an attending Kerrie should have asked her about the case and offered input. So Jing May had a right to do what she did to get her job back and tell Kerrie what she thought

I didn’t like Chen, but Dr. Weaver threw her under the bus. She lied during the review of the patient’s death just to save her own skin, and Chen lost her Chief Resident spot as a result.

Right at the end Jing Mae shouldn’t of allowed Kerry to have the last word as she walked out the door. When you’re right… say it out loud!!

I agree that it was satisying to see Weaver without the upper hand. She was usually so good at the politics that came with her position. But Weaver has a point. Jing Mae's mistake with that patient was pretty terrible.

@@Xerruy Her killing the marfan's patient (which is what led to her leaving and then suing to get her job back - which is what we're seeing here) was earlier the same season. This scene is from episode 8:12, Chen killed the marfan's patient in episode 8:02 - just ten episodes earlier.

Everyone was at fault in that situation. But on a personal note I'm glad someone started fighting back against Kerry Weaver. She's a good doctor and saved a lot of lives but Doug was right about one thing: She's just like Nurse Ratched from One Flew Over the Kuckoo's Nest.

This all started when Dr. Malucci misdiagnosed a patient in the ER. He assumed a patient was on cocaine rather than diagnosing him with what he had, Marfan's Disease. It was made worse when Jing Mae (chief resident) gave Malucci the ok to administer a drug for the patient without reviewing the patients x-rays herself as required. The drugs made the pateint worse and by the time they figured out what was wrong the patient died. Weaver came back to the ER just as he died. She read them both the riot act for the misdiagnosis which could've been fixed if they bothered to properly look at the xrays and films. Malucci got angry when Weaver reprimanded them and tried to bring up that they paged her repeatedly and she never showed but she dismisses that. However, this is actually an important point. Weaver had stepped out for around 20-30 minutes to Doc Magoos across the street from the ER to meet with a private investigator who was trying to find her birth mother. Carter had to run across the street to get Weaver from Doc Magoos after they paged her and got no response. Later when Weaver goes back to Doc Magoos she finds that she left her pager in the bathroom. She checks it and sees she was in fact paged 3 times to the ER. Risk management is later brought in to deal with the situation (huge liability issue). Weaver fires Malucci (for this, failing 2 other rotations, and sleeping with an EMT on duty). But Risk Management felt that wasn't enough. Weaver carefully and repeatedly avoided the issue of her absence (and missed pages) when questioned and basically allowed the rest of the blame to fall on Jing Mae. They used this mistake and one from when she was a med student to force her to resign her Chief Residency. But Jing Mae was angry because Weaver didn't take any responsibility. While she and Malucci made the mistakes with the patient, Weaver was the attending on call for that shift. If she had her pager on her and hadn't forgotten it in the bathroom she would've been in the ER when needed. Romano and the hospital agree to Jing Mae's terms to avoid being sued and because Weaver never gave them a legitimate reason for her absence.
