Gives me the feeling that everything is looking down. However, there is a part of it that I can't put my finger on that feels hopeful. I think that's why people resonate with this version of it so well. Gives me memories of my depression, but what's unusual is they're not unhappy memories , more reminiscent. When you're depressed and you look at your life logically, you determine that your life is tragic, upsetting, and ultimately there is no point because life is pain. However, there is some intangible part of life that keeps us going, and I think this version (as well as other variants on the 8-bit slowed-down bass-boosted niche of this song) encapsulate that incredibly well. There's not really anything in this that you go "that, that right there is what makes this song sound hopeful", or in other words, "that, that right there is what keeps me going". Would be great final boss music in a turn-based video game, if the boss was thematically designed to appear to be impossible, with no hope, however every now and then providing unrecognizable glimpses of hope, like a carrot on a stick, enough to keep you persisting but not enough to see victory being possible. And then one day you beat it. You did it. Despite never seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, you made it there. All it took was some hope and faith in yourself. Reason I replied to you was because yours was the only comment that saw the positive emotional draw in the track, you experienced it as comfort, I experienced it as hope. All of the other comments that mention actual emotion (not just memories) are just saying it's depressing and that's it.
