Kessel 7 Melodies Chrono Sport Watch

Symbol of black market in Czech Republic in 80s. Illegaly imported by (later arrested) "enterpreneur" Miroslav Provod. Functionally different and superior over later low-quality chinese clones Levis, Montana or U.S.A., with light-oversensitive die (that's the reason for that magic black sticky tape on the top of resin-covered chip).
Differences:
- while holding date, set switches between 12/24 format (chinese do nothing)
- while holding date, alarm cycles between DD/MM and MM/DD format (chinese switch melody on/off)
- while holding alarm, date cycles between AL,ALBEEP, BEEP and NONE (chinese switch melody on/off)
- while holding alarm, set switches between 12/24 format (chinese switch BEEP option on/off)
- setup is entered by holding the button, (chinese by pressing it twice w/o using stopwatch mode)
12/24 mode is chosen on chinese models using setup, DD/MM mode is fixed as MM/DD.
Also, on the display, there's no silly "DATE" sign, but ".)))" BEEP symbol.
And one funny thing more - the main chip has sound output as well, when there's no melody second chop, it just beeps, instead of playing 1-channel music (mixing frequency derived from 32768kHz xtal, it's phase accumulator).
Display has weird and inefficient multiplexing scheme - not as ingenious as those 1-button 11+2 pin displays.

už se mi to povedlo naštelovat. jinak jsou super,nosím je normálně a každý,kdo je aspoň trochu pamatuje,čumí.mě je 30 takže ty hodinky pamautuju spíše na ruce svého otce a potom ty montany a levisy a podobné,když nefungovaly nebo se utrhl pásek,dávali nam je na hraní :)

Not mine, marquis - i use cheap alkaline AG3 cells, and one is enough for 2-3 years, not mentioning silver oxide ones. something must be wrong with yours, probably some hi-impedance shortage on pcb. i always use ethanol to keep the PCB perfectly dry and clean. And, your viddeo with former kessel model is also good - i have the same as well, just marked as "levis".

Ciao. Ho un orologio simile. Il mio ha in più un settaggio che non ho mai capito. All'intero del menù di regolazione ora e data, c'è un altro parametro con 4 valori che vanno da zero a 3. Ho pensato fosse per l'anno bisestile, o per regolare la durata della luce o per regolare/tarare il clock ma niente. A cosa serva non l'ho mai capito. Chissà che tu lo sappia. Grazie

Hello, Kessel is a Hong-Kong based company, existing till today (Kessel Electronics). These models were widely available in Austria around 1985, and smuggled to CSSR. Many of them were (and still are) available for example in Prag, at flea-market Kolbenova, usually for very reasonable prices (about 2 USD), and there I bought them (3 pieces just during one visit:). Well, there are 2 models - female (smaller) and male, functionally identical. Female is slightly easier to get, which one do You want? I might have a lok next time being there.

Na blesich trzich, vetsinou pochazi z pozustalosti. Napr. na Kolbence jde po jednom obejiti odejit s nekolika Kesselkami za cenu par petek. Ale jejich stav neni vzdy idealni, je potreba vycistit oxidy po vyteklem clanku, osetrit vodive gumy, citlive to zas zasroubovat - ten plast uz nejni nejmladsi...
