Sure it would. Obviously, it wouldn't be a simple installation. Plenty of people have put the dohc m62 V8 in the e46 and z4. Also look at the bmw M8 prototype, that definitely does not have a bigger engine bay than the z4.

The point is mute though because these dohc bmw v12 engines are maximum unobtainium. If you could somehow develop your own billet block and attach two s54 heads, you might have something.
