they fight each other a lot. it is like an ancient rivalry. the owls is clever, wanting to bring the fight inside, where its larger size and strength is to its advantage and the agility of the kestrel is nullified. very clever.

American Kestrels AKA sparrow hawks nest in hollow trees or abandoned woodpecker nests . This likely this was an attempt by a female sparrow hawk steal the nest site from the Owl that didn't end well . Female sparrow hawks are larger than the males .

Calling a kestrel, a sparrowhawk is incorrect. Sparrowhawks are actually a species of accipiter. The term that you’re using, it’s quite dated, and antiquated

I don't believe we have any Eurasian sparrow hawks (accipiter) residing in the US . The bird in the video fighting with the barn owl is clearly not an accipiter
