Very good question. A First Officer on a cruise ship told me that they are asked by passengers " when will we see the dolphins?". The Dolphins, Sea Otters, Orcas, Eagles and other wildlife are just so unpredictable. We do spend a lot of time on deck scanning for views of wildlife and often see things that other passengers miss completely. If it is wildlife you are interested in, ask the crew and local guides for the 'most likely' areas and just be out there. Good luck, we were very lucky with Orcas on our whale watch tour in Auke Bay, but they said it was unusual.

Walking up the road that follows the river, there is a bridge where the 'Fish Ladder' is. It will depend on time of year & good fortune to see Salmon or any wildlife.
