I was in Ho Chi Minh 3 weeks ago and I love how immersive you are with the locals. Your vlogs remind me of what Anthony Bourdain used to do in his shows. I was unable to visit Bui Vien but thanks for taking us on a virtual tour, I did expect it to get crazy there anyway. Hopefully we get to run into each other somewhere in South East Asia and have a couple of beers! Cheers from Manila!

While building a house 30 km from Saigon towards Vung Toa I stayed in many hotels on Bui Vein and in the alleys, that was before the street sold out to large bars mostly owned by one company. I preferred the 1st alley off Bui Vein on the right though it has changed a lot in the time I've lived here, evening spent chatting with expats, raising an empty beer bottle was the signal for a refill, sharing a food order with other at the table.

Thanks Angelo. In Saigon, it's pretty much always hot. I was there in February and it was near 100 degrees daily. I think the main thing you want to avoid is the rainy season so November is good, but December through Feb is probably ideal. Not sure what you mean by roll up the carpet but you can pretty much get access to food 24/7 either on street carts or in 24 hour stores. The restaurants serve til 10 or 11pm but some stay open later on weekends, especially on walking street.
