I'm not sure I understand using mix minus when feeding back into my laptop. Here's my situation: we plan to have an in-person club meeting with a guest speaker attending virtually via Zoom. I plan to project the Zoom participant onto a screen and push the audio through a portable PA speaker. The laptop does have a headset (TRRS) input. If I do a mix minus and feed it back into the headset input of the computer, would that be all I'd have to do to prevent a feedback loop? I would be feeding my mic through the mixer as well, and that mic would also be picking up the questions ask of the speaker by in-person attendees.

The instruction in this video was concise and correct. Makes other web and video explanations seem pathetic. SUBSCRIBED!! Before I ever heard of mix minus, I tried several ways to accomplish this with no success. My latest attempt was buying a usb c to TRRS cable and my Samsung phone puked when I connected the cable- cutting in and out, dropping audio and absolutely no mic input. After this video and spending what I believe to be a little amount on the suggested cables, I feel Iike a pro and the audio is clear as well. I am not sure of the mixer model as it was purchased from Temu and I almost returned it because of the "feel" of the casing and I am so glad I did not.

@Kettner Creative - Jordan, your way of explaining things is top notch. Very logical and just enough detail. About mix minus for live event, it would be great if you can address how to prevent the remote voices coming over the speakers at the event from getting into the open mics and then back out to the remote people, creating some echo issues. Can be a secondary route for the remote voices going back to them, right? There are various higher end boxes for keeping this from happening, but wonder if you have any tips at the level you deal with here. Again, great work!

I am watching this, trying to learn how to set up a mic minus for the 1st time. You are doing a great job, but please make sure to announce and display each cable you are using, and tell us what it is. After plugging in the xlr female/aux splitter into the Lighting adapter, you don't tell us what cable or adapter you plug in after that. It looks like a 1/4 jack that splits into Two 1/4 jacks, with an 1/8 inch adapter in the single side. Please be very clear. Trying to learn how to set up a mix minus is confusing for someone new to this, I'm trying to watch this to know everything i need to buy to do this. It is very helpful still, especially putting links in description, even though i use Samsung not Apple phone. It's cool to learn how to set up a mic minus to the phone especially! I'm trying to figure out how to screen record call of duty mobile on my phone, and have everyone's voice audio in the game, and the games audio, as well as my own voice audio, all together. So i can upload to KZbin, i wouldn't know how to stream that live, but i would like to just see if that's possible. Want to set it up on the computer too. You're video is very helpful, thank you!

Appreciated the illustration -- needed a visual way to describe mix-minus to a friend. However, I'm confused that this is a relatively new video posting and I've been using every model of Apple laptop since 1995 -- and I can remember at least back to 2008 that the TRRS earbuds work just fine as a mic input on these systems. I've been using various iRig (and other brand) devices with TRRS to get audio in and out of phones and laptops for a long time -- and I've never had an Apple product be incompatible with two-way audio through that port.

Hello Jordon. Can you pls do a video on mix minus through USB instead of FX/Aux send on MG10XU.
@kettnercreative4 жыл бұрын
With the Yamaha, you cannot do a MixMinus over USB because it only has one output that copies the stereo output. If you want to do this, you would need to find a USB mixer with at least 4 USB outputs. Generally speaking, you would be looking at a digital audio console somewhere between $1200-2000 for this feature. I prefer the Allen & Heath QU16 but there are many other products that can do this as well.

Then if I stop talking it goes back to the normal level until I talk again an then it pops again. I have now switched out all of the cords and it has not stopped the problem. The adapter in the video from the phone to the headSET is for iPhone. Does anyone have a link to an adapter that does the same thing for Android (usb-c to headSET)? The reason that I am asking here is because of a rather strange anomaly I have discovered on Amazon. If you actually do a search for an adapter such as what is used in the video with the term headSET, the Amazon results - without fail - will return items labeled headPHONE regardless of how I structure the request of what I am looking for! If anyone knows a "trick" I could use to get Amazon to leave out results containing the word, headPHONE, that would be deeply appreciated as well. I have literally and truthfully spent hours at Amazon and I cannot get past this incredibly persistent issue with the search results not containing the actual word I am looking for. So, please, if anyone has a link to a USB-C to headSET converter, please pass it along. Thanking you in advance for helping out! Max

@@kettnercreative Hey Jordan - your videos are the best! I happen to use the Yamaha MG10XU. Nit being an "Apple Guy", if not Amazon, where do I go to find the USB-C / iPhone version of what you are using? Thanks for your efforts. You are making a real difference! Sincerely, Max

@@MaxLaingDMP Hi Max, you can get the same adapter from any Best Buy, Walmart, Apple Store, or other Apple Dealer.

@@kettnercreative Oh! Excellent! Color me silly. Thank you for the direction - but mostly for your effort toward sharing the knowledge you bestow on those of us in need of the "tricks or the trade" (grin). As I stated before, you continue to make a real difference! Sincerely and without hesitation, Max
