Only just discovered Kev Carmody in 2014, isn't he a wonderfully intelligent, talented and honest man. His music tells it how it is, helping lift the veil pulled over our eyes by our tyrannical murderous governments . At 50 years of age I've reached a point in my life, that sadly I'm ashamed of myself for never taking the time, to learn about the Aborigines that are the rightful owners of the land we live on. I'm happy to say though, I'm now looking forward to changing that, you could too. They could've shown us a better way, all we had to do was listen, but it's not too late.

Wow... I want to cry. So beautiful. I'm fascinated by your culture. I'm an American born Caribbean breed with no roots. I have no idea what African tribe my families derive from. Hold on to your rich culture. Imagine what it feels like to not know anything at all. Check out issues in Jamaica. Similar struggles happening. Mental slavery is what these western governments impose after the first violation. The Saami are European indigenous people and they too face discrimination in their own land. The only good thing that came out of conquests anywhere was Christianity. I'm happy to know Jesus and not some vengeful spirit. By the way, some Native Americans are inspired by Bob Marley. Lets support each other, all "conquered" peoples. I know I have white blood but I don't pass.i want to connect with my dominant side.. Ugh. Idk. I guess I'm still soul searching and. Blah. God bless and much love. One love :)

I am a white Australian, and totally ashamed of our history with our indigenous people. Have you listened to any Archie Roach songs? They really tell their story. Attitudes are very slowly improving in this country - but we have a long way to go. God Bless you on your journey.
@MartyredxMaiden10 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I have white blood and family too. And it's not everybody's fault. In today's age it's money that separates people, or social status. The struggle.is all over the world. The Irish went through it too. We're all human beings and we all share this beautiful planet. God bless and I hope all is well :)

I saw him play in Katoomba about 20 years ago and between songs he spoke more wisdom than I’ve ever heard from anyone. So glad he’s had such a powerful effect on Australian politics despite the voting loss in 2022. The one nation people from Queensland are on the road to embarrassment destruction and Kev Carmody’s truth will prevail!

This version of Thou Shalt Not Steal was recorded in 1989 with Mixed Relations and was released in 1993 as the B side to the single of Freedom. It is not the original version that appeared on 1988 Pillars Of Society. I produced this version so I know. I was there. The clip was produced by Paul Fenech for ABC show Blackout. All the best and keep up the good work, have not seen this clip for years.

Fantastic song. Heads up for Joe Hayes who produced & put the money up for Kev's first album "Pillars of Society' in 1988. There were 1,000 copies made by him under the name of Rutabagas Records. He a few other believers worked real hard to get it out there.

I just saw this guy's story about From Little Things Big Things Grow - from part-aboriginal part-Irish stock, I remembered reading of the early racism between white settlers in Australia was the English looking down on the Irish (e.g. Ned Kelly) - so Kev Carmody incorporates both forms of racism - white on black, and white on white
@infinifi29103 ай бұрын
@@ultimobile I came to Australia in the 1980’s and I am a white settler and went to a lecture about aboriginal culture at the Theosophical society in Sydney. It was excellent in its information about the aboriginal spiritual life and the lecture made such a huge impression on me that when I was teaching in high and primary schools I played a big role in the aboriginal society’s and dept of education art exhibiting initiatives. Years later, I was abused. I’d moved to a completely different area but stranger neighbors helped me and I discovered they had aboriginal ancestry. I think they sensed that something had happened and one neighbor gave me a hand painted aboriginal art carving which I would never let go of. Some Europeans connect, more strongly than other white settlers, to the true spirits of the earth! I saw Kev Carmody play in Katoomba and heard his words of wisdom, Burham Burnham initiated a conversation with me so I feel that a connection has occurred beyond the realms of skin colour!!!

What an epic song from the godfather of indigenous music. It is rather hypocritical of us coming here stealing the land, the children, outlawing their languages, cultural practices and religions, and then forcing on them a new religion which professed "Thou Shalt not Steal" Happy 'Australia Day' ⊙︿⊙/ 26/01/2017

Some Churches have a lot to answer for, not all, some priests have a lot to answer for, not all, some black people have a lot to answer for , not all, Some white people have a lot to answer for not all. Gods words are for all. This is what I believe. Good or evil the choice is ours. D-evil > G-o-od. There is a war raging when to many people choose the wrong path, forgiveness is in choosing the right path. The love of God is so powerful, if you let him into your life.
