I was rethinking if I should be using Blender or 3D techniques at all. But I slept on it and visited this video today and I've been re-encouraged to keep working at it. I think I need to learn some more foundations. Thanks for putting out such an encouraging video!

Thanks for this video. I found it very interesting, enjoyable and informative. I just thought I'd like to explain my approach. I started learning blender about two months ago (I think) and I approach it like I approach any 'computer game'. I enjoy it because there is so much to discover and once I learn something new, new possibilities open up. I follow blender-related tutorials that I find interesting. So far, I have bounced around, learning somewhat ad hoc, but it is all related and I will eventually aim more precisely. I may start a tutorial, then go onto another and then return to the first one because I remember something about it that I now need or just want to go over it again, now that I know more. I am learning this for someone who asked me to do the artwork for a game they are coding. So I 'test' my progress by working on the requested artwork and find out what I still need to learn. I have run into all kinds of problems - computer, mistakes, different blender versions, and so on and with every problem I have learned even more. I learn from and enjoy your tutorials, so thank you for those too.

Really good video (and channel) I am currently learning blender myself, having already had a rather successful career as a comic and concept artist. So I have an amount of confidence (not a lot, an amount) in the idea I can pick up blender if I stick with it... But... I have also been trying to convince a friend, who has never done anything creative, he too could learn blender with an eye to eventually having a creative career. Or at least have something creative he could create work in and maybe make a little extra money. At the moment, I think he is still a little skeptical. Although to his credit, he did by a mac mini and has started lerning. Videos like this are hugely helpful to people like myself, but so much more so to those who have never tried something creative before. Amazing progress for the year, and a great channel for people of all levels, thanks very much for the content you put out, and congratulations on that progress...
@kevandram3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words! I agree, I think skepticism is expected, especially if your friend hasn't done anything creative. But I think there's something to be said for having another outlet to create and I think Blender is a great tool for that. Good luck with learning the program!

@kevandram2 жыл бұрын
Hmm it depends on what you want to do. I will say that Blender is pretty versatile hardware wise. I started off with a laptop and then just upgraded to a PC. If you want to get started sooner, it might be helpful to get a laptop with a good graphics card and that would probably be sufficient for getting started.

Thank you for this great video full of useful info and resources. BTW Your art and creativity are amazing! One last thing: how is blender received in the industry? I usually hear pro designers say that in order to work in this industry you have to learn pro softwares like maya zbrush... But I am still going for blender for some reason. You definitely are a pro so I would highly appreciate your opinion about it. Seeing what you created with blender helps a lot and keeps my motivation high. Thank you!
@kevandram2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words and for watching! I really appreciate it. Honestly, Blender isn't as widely received positively in the industry as it should be. The primary reason being that many industry pipelines and infrastructures are pretty reliant on programs that are more well known. A great example of this is like Adobe vs. Affinity, with Adobe being the standard. Also, Blender didn't have the greatest reputation in the beginning. I will say that more recently, Blender is positioning itself to become a standard. The reason being that it just makes more sense from a workflow and financial standpoint. It's also extremely innovative, can integrate with many different disciplines, and is free. As of right now, I see more of the smaller animation studios and other creatives (graphic/motion designers/XR/AR) using it as opposed to larger companies. But, again, I have a feeling that will changes in the near future. Hope that helps!

@kevandram3 жыл бұрын
Sure! I would generally recommend a Wacom Intuous in any size. They're the most popular and are generally great starter tablets and the lowest tier one retails for about $80 USD. I used one for years before getting a new one. The current one I'm using is an XP Pen with a display. It's a bit pricer because it has a display, but works well for my workflow. Hope that helps!

Thank you very much this video really inspired me and helped me. I started to learn blender in june this year. I was an agriculture student after my first job in agriculture i realized it would't work so i decided to change my career path.i chose blender now i'm always loosing my motivation because of that decision.So my question is . Is it possible to earn income with blender?. I really need your help 🔥🔥
@kevandram3 жыл бұрын
If you're interested in Blender, I think it would be great to pursue and there's many ways to find an income with. It's a growing skill that many companies find desirable from design, to game development, to architecture and you can sell your own assets if you'd like to go down that path. However, there is a big learning curve which can be discouraging, and it's definitely easier to pick up as a hobby first and then gradually grow your commitment to it. I think if you're looking for something more immediate and easier to pick up as a career, I might suggest learning coding such as Python. It's a more in demand skill, integrates with Blender if you'd like to pick it up eventually, and easy to learn. You can probably pick it up in a month. Hope that helps!

Every tutorial i take i make it with my own ideas, i dont really follow along all the exact same steps as the tutorial, therefore there are some things that i dont take at all from the tutorial cuz i dont make it, and there are some extra stuff i get outside the tutorials. Would you recomend me not doing this and just watch the tutorials and follow along and then do my own projects with the info? or im doing good like this
@kevandram3 жыл бұрын
I understand what you mean. I think you can approach it both ways, and they both have their positives. When I was starting out with just tutorials, I tried to replicate the end result as best I could so that I could comprehend the information from it. But as I got more comfortable with Blender, I would follow along with a tutorial, but in the context of something else I wanted to make. I think eventually, it's important to see things you can learn from tutorials through the lens your workflow rather than in the context of the example project. But, I realize it does take time to get there. As long as you keep doing what you're doing and focus on your end goal, you'll get to where you want to be. I hope that helps!
