I don't think anyone's mentioned it, but the assassin in all black that you beat the snot out of, who then kills you at the end of the prologue, is actually the one that came the absolute closest to completely toppling the Templars while they were at their strongest. I mean the man even took a hit from the sword of Eden and was able to come to in roughly 15ish minutes to shank you after you left the crypt. The fact we don't have a game, or hell, even a book, about this mad lad named Thomas.....is insane

16:04 The blue guards are the soldiers of the National Convention. The revolutionary French government. The red guards are Jacobin militants who were populist extremists. What this game fails to capture is that often times these two groups would be on the same side. During the Reign of Terror under Robespierre, the National Convention was controlled by Jacobin politicians. By the end of the Revolution, the monarchy would be restored over France. Both sides would lose. So Kev is right. No factions win.
@dastemplar9681Ай бұрын
I think the idea for the red faction was extremists in general. There were at least 32 different political ideologies/factions/parties going on throughout the entirety of the French Revolution. That way it could be applied universally no matter what the political context was at the time. Before Napoleon came to power the French went through like five different Constitutions and seven different formations of government between the years of 1789 to 1799. I like to view it as I mentioned. Blue guards represent the power of the government whoever is in charge or held majority sway, while the Red are the extremists of whatever party is at play.
@walnzell9328Ай бұрын
@@dastemplar9681 That would make sense if the red enemies didn't always spout Jacobin rhetoric. Though it is true, they are used to represent more than the Jacobins. But only in a few places. There's a co-op mission where the red enemies are used to represent monarchists. And yet they still wear the Phrygian cap and cockade. And they still shout revolutionary phrases.

To me this is one of the best ones because the combat was the best in the franchise they built on what 4 had while also allowing you to specialize in specific weaponry and on top of it all a multiplayer that let each assassin take on the mission in their own way my favorite memory of this game was taking on a mission to a big cathedral, heavily guarded, target deep in what was effectively a fortress the other 3 assassins I was teamed up with decided to take it a bit slow and scout out the place I ran in with a musket beating people over the head on a bright red assassin outfit taking every guard within a mile of the area to fight me while making my way up culminating in getting the target to flee into the waiting arms of my brother assassin's in arms Still one of my fave moments this game deserves so much more love than it gets

I wouldn’t mind you doing a full playthrough of this and then Syndicate. The two assassin’s creed games from this brief era were actually pretty good. (Definitely play the Jack the Ripper dlc for Syndicate, that one’s so freaking good) The biggest problem I have with Unity is how buggy it can be. Thankfully the major gamebreaking stuff has mostly been patched out, but I still encountered a few annoying bugs (a mission failing to register I’d done the objective and forcing me to restart from checkpoint was the nastiest of the bugs I encountered). But overrall, while I’m glad Origins was made, I am disappointed it seemed to kill this brief era of ass cred. Also, I actually really like Odyssey. What can I say? It’s just really fun.

Unity’s parkour is incomplete and unpolished you literally float when you jump it looks so fake like gravity doesn’t even exist. Parkour in unity has to be done in specific areas which you and you have to do multiple runs and plan out the routes you want to take. In AC2-Revelations you can literally run across the map and look good the entire time and the catch ledge feature should have stayed in the series because it saves you from messing up and allows you to continue parkour seamlessly. I can name more pros than cons for the original parkour system then unity the only thing unity does better is parkour down which you don’t even need in the older games because a haystack is always located near plaza so you can easily get down safely or do a safety jump.

I first played it a year ago and thought it was actually pretty incredible. I was shocked by how MASSIVE the crowds in the streets could get without cratering the framerate, and the animations are better than anything current gen (now that they've been fixed). I played this game way after it was released, so I never experienced the biggest glitches. And the little bugs that are still in the game sometimes dont even bother me. I used to play this game a lot back then, and never understood why people where saying it was one of the worst AC games. Recently I played the game again and still see that it was one of the best, and also quite historically grounded (for a fantasy franchise of course). It is a perfect follow up to the history of the templars and should actually have been pivitol to the rest of the AC story considering its partially about the historical downfall and 'rise' of the templars which dictates the templars in the future games... thats why I feel like they let the templars go in the RPG instalments
