One thing this game needs is for the expansions to be playable throughout the main story, at least that way it KIND of expands it. Well sadly I don't share that buying from a garage idea since if you want to work up athletics you have to run/jump everywhere, using a ton of strong melee attacks, always ripping out HMGs and forcing every door or gate you can. I had all of my skills maxxed on this last run except for athletics. It still had like 2-3 levels to go and that was with me working it ALL the fucking time. They need to fix athletics levelling in the worst way.

6:23 Game dev here, for anyone curious this is called occlusion culling, it's where you don't render objects that are not supposed to be visible in order to save rendering/resources. The bounding box for the assets (think of a cube with the entire object inside it's volume) determine if it's "in view" or not. When a assets bounding box gets large enough(like with a building) it's easy for the engine to determine it's obstructed and not render it even though it can clearly be seen. Sometimes if the scale of the object has been messed but not it's bounds with this can also happen. I spent 3 weeks fixing this exact issue, it's easier if you can control the perspective, like a house off in the distance that you can never physically reach, you then can just adjust the bounds to the available perspectives. Otherwise you have to tweak how aggressive your culling is (big performance hit as many unnecessary objects will not be culled anymore) or check visibility for each of the edges and corners (up to 20 checks per frame, per object) which is also adds up. If the games field of view options have a wide enough perspective that you can see around corners then both of those wont work and you go cry in your cubicle as you prepare to do depth based culling using the z-buffer (more crying necessary if you have to account for anything transparent) or octree culling cutting each of the bounds into smaller and smaller boxes until you have a somewhat accurate but still approximate bounding volume.
@OceanicMemory3 жыл бұрын
Why don't you guys just replace them with low poly/texture objects like all other games!? that way it would not be obvious for the player and still there would be no real performance hit, this kind of OCC is very dangerous specially on big environment background objects!
@ArcadiaCv3 жыл бұрын
@@OceanicMemory A bounding box is effectively a mathematical cube. If I told you a 1m x 1m x 1m cube could fully encompass your cat, then it really doesn't matter what your cat looks like(polygons and textures) because I have created a large enough volume to surround the bounds of it. If these bounding boxes were actual geometry they would have just 8 points called vertices or 12 total polygons after the engine goes through a process called triangulation. This would already make them very low poly, however with a bounding box you get to go a step further and store only one point (the origin) and the length/width/height bringing the number of stored values down to just 24 bytes which is already amazingly small, this entire reply is 1,883 bytes for comparison. In regard to the geometry/textures of the objects, there are other tricks we use. For geometry we have two major methods, the first is using LODs or level of detail where you create several different versions of the same object with less and less polygons, and then replace the lower polygon one off in the distance with a higher polygon one when the player gets closer. The other option is to use a process called tessellation where you split the polygons of a object into even smaller polygons when the player gets closer (this is usually used for terrain). For textures we use what we call mipmaps, you take a image like a large 4k texture and create a 2k version, and a 1024 version, and a 512 version, and a 256 version, and a 128 version. Then when the object is far off in the distance, you use the memory efficient low resolution texture and as they approach you swap to higher resolutions so when they are putting their face in the wall they get a nice 4k texture. These of course all come with their own drawbacks and obstacles such as texture pop-in and render distances but they help performance dramatically.

Nope. Even if this game becomes completely playable, it’s not what people were promised which was sounding and looking like the most deep and polished ROLE PLAYING GAME experience people could have… In order to get what people were actually promised; this game needs to be reworked almost completely from square one. Otherwise it’ll still be remembered as one of the biggest shams in gaming history: a GTA meets Far Cry 3 soft core cyberpunk ACTION-ADVENTURE game with almost no real role playing mechanics lmao

@mrmoneypants44413 жыл бұрын
First things first, the game was released a year early so all devs were doing up till now is fixing the shit they were forced to release - bugs and performance. Time will tell if execs learned their lesson and the team will now move on to adding content/reworking mechanics/expanding on stuff or just fix some more bugs and that's it.
@aaronf42753 жыл бұрын
@@mrmoneypants4441 I don’t believe it was released a year early; more like YEARS too early. The game has already been out 8 months and is no where near complete or true to what was promised. @@mrmoneypants4441 “time will tell if execs learned their lesson” time doesn’t have to tell. I will tell. They didn’t. @mrmoneypants44413 жыл бұрын
@@dr.k8610 that's what EA execs would say. We can obviously tell that they failed with CP77, but we cannot deny that each of CDPR's project was ambitious. RPG's are the only games they make and I can't see them competing in the market of shooters or dunno, MMORPG's (remember BioWare's attempt to produce something different than a RPG?). From a business perspective the only thing execs can do is to try to turn this situation around and rebuild the power of CDPR's brand, one they flushed down the toilet last year. Otherwise they might as well sell the studio to Microsoft or EA or whoever they want if they don't care.

Most just give simple one sentence responses to any talking. With how long it has taken CDPR to just try and fix the myriad of bugs in the game I don't ever see this game reaching the potential it had. Yeah... they were too kind hearted... they bothered to do something for those filthy, ungrateful peasants on consoles... (it's not like around 45% of the money they stol... ehm... earned came from them) THIS WAS THEIR ONLY MISTAKE! On PC the game launched 100% as they promised. A mechanically deep RPG with a story full of meaningful choices! Those 3 genius life path choices who completely alter the game, making every path totally unique! The AI is top notch and so is the physics engine, tons of customization for cars, house and characters. A city so interactive you forget it's a videogame, full of crazy activities to do and gangs to interact with. Ok... my sarcasm overheated so let me be serious for a second... this game is not good. Objectively. People are allowed to love it as much as they please, but up to August 20th 2021 CP is a subpar, unacceptable shitshow for any player with standards. And don't get me started on the lies that were told (expecially to console users)...

A game where the base gameplay and world were so incredibly polished, that they were able to fill it slowly with tiny details, npcs, and cool features. What they delivered, is a hollow world, with so many deep integral issues, that there is no fixing it. No amount of updates will fix the way the game -feels- No amount of updates will successfully fill the streets with dense crowds, and honking traffic, yelling npcs, and deep world building No amount of updates can make the story less ridiculous. And absolutely nothing, can make me give a shit about Jackie. Unfortunately, this game is a loss. It can never be what it promised, To be realistic, it could never even come close.
