There are a lot of hints in the series that Kevin is behind the massacre in 1994! The tape in the bowling alley episode belongs to Kevin and there he says that he hates Brandon because he slept with Daisy. Also, when Brandon was beaten up, his mask was left at school and Kevin stole it. He killed 4 people in 1994 and framed Brandon. He retained a passion for violence and beat Daisy, but realized that this could hurt Emma and left the family. The creators of the series also discussed this theory. And Daisy herself said she wasn't sure Brandon was the killer.
