I’m kind of glad these videos don’t get millions of views. These vids give us researchers an advantage over more gifted players. I mean if ur watching these vids u must’ve have struggled on defense and wanted to get better.

I hope Garnett writes a book someday - in between the roaring and the swearing, I think he was one of the most obviously cerebral defenders the game has ever seen, and has fairly limitless insights to share. He played so small, sometimes, he modulated his pressure throughout the game, his foot speed was dazzling, but he constantly changed tempos on both ends of the court. This is a terrific video that puts some concrete terminology to some of his best play.

Great breakdown. Kevin was one of the most fun-to-watch players in league history. It was special to watch how fast he processed the game and how he had a solution for basically any kind of mismatch the offense could try to throw at him. Besides Shaq 😅 His combination of IQ and physical gifts made him arguably the best defender since... Russell? And he was an elite mid range shooter (.877 points per possession on FGA from 10ft-3P in the playoffs and .905 in the regular season) and had elite passing vision. I don't think most basketball fans will ever realize how transcendent a player he was because of his quality of teammates.

KG is honestly the best PF ever, by eye test he was better than Duncan...Kg could of averaged more points but he opted instead to assist the ball more so yeah KG was simply amazing truly talented all time player...Too bad for the atrocious teammates he had he basically battled duo and trio all stars while in the West.
@winter92424 жыл бұрын
Nahh duncan is still better than him he lead his team to a chip despite being the only star player on the team his other teammates were either too old or too young and havent broken out yet he just isnt flashy and always stick to making the right play
@kg21bestpf944 жыл бұрын
@@winter9242 So does KG he's not flashy and his IQ matches Duncan's it's just KG can do more on both ends of the floor.
@winter92424 жыл бұрын
@@kg21bestpf94 lmao what? KG isnt flashy? KG is very flashy especially on the defensive side with his signature beating of the chest when he gets a block. Duncan is still the greatest PF ever due to his longevity and being a title contender and defensive anchor till the day he retired sure. If youre going to bring up the teammates argument remember that he beat a lakers team that had kobe and shaq duo while he was the lone star on the team. He is also able to distribute the ball effectively though that might not reflect in his assists, it's due to the system he's playing. Had Garnett not been injured, who knows how good he will stay but because of Duncan's longevity leadership and his presence, he trumps KG as the best PF
@kg21bestpf944 жыл бұрын
@@winter9242 Yeah Duncan does career wise if KG didn't get injured in 09 they 3 peat because they were on an historic win pace until he got injured and they were clicking on all cylinders so yeah they for sure 3 peat...If we go off prime vs prime there is absolutely no doubt KG was the better player that 03-04 was one of the best seasons ever for a player his was truly amazing.

What's so great is he was a beast on defense while also carrying offensive loads most of his career too. Even when he was scoring less in Boston he was a big part of what made that offense hum. All the extra talking was also putting out energy. If we could see energy with the naked eye KG would have looked superhuman!

KG was underrated as an all time great. The combination of his defense and offense was unsurpassed. Even Duncan with all his offensive tools and low post D didn't have the all around game Duncan did. As a Kings fan, he was the worst matchup for Chris Webber.

@LockdownDefense4 жыл бұрын
You could try changing your stance to the ball hand, but not extremely, causing him to want to crossover and anticipating the cross with a wide steal or just getting a jump on those slides. So quick hip change during hesi and immediately counter yourself just as he does
