It was downright surreal. Everything surrounding racing was surreal at that time, although for me it started around the time Adam Petty (and then Kenny Irwin, Jr.) died. And Waltrip won that race., and then the week after Dale's death, Steve Park wins. And then two weeks later, Harvick wins. And then in July, back at Daytona again, Dale Jr. wins (using "lessons handed down to him by his father" ROFL). I'd love to know what the odds are on all that. No, I'm not purporting some kind of conspiracy theory...just that it's _really_ weird the way things all worked out.

Finally, a story I can relate to a bit. I had just started working behind the scenes at my church about a month and a half before the Daytona 500 in 2001, so I needed to be at church that night. When I left the house, my feelings were the same as Harvick's here, it just didn't look THAT bad. I was a little more worried because there had been some things said about how serious it looked, but when I got to my church, our youth pastor was announcing that we'd lost Dale Earnhardt. And keep in mind, my church at the time was only about a five-minute drive from my house. So somehow, the confirmation came down in that five-minute span of time. I remember a lot about those hours vividly because of all that.

Tidal Force Gaming what would anyone have expected the Earnhardt family to say? And, no, Mrs. Earnhardt, Dale's dear mother, she never once said anything other than she did NOT want to see the number three on the track again. The fact is, Dillon is a spoiled brat who is nowhere near the man to fill the shoes of Dale! Three-hundred Austin Dillon's couldn't fill Earnhardt's boots enough to see over the ridges. He's a little twirp, a dreamer. He proved it yet again, just like he does with his silly cowboy hat antics, trying to mimic a young Dale, when he waved his hands in the same fashion and trademark like another giant whose shoes he is nowhere near man enough to fill, the late Lane Frost, after he wrecked at Daytona and climbed from the rubble of his torn up car. Thank God he was not hurt, as it looked like he may have been seriously injured, or worse, even killed, when he wrecked into the catch fence. I wish him absolutely no harm and hope he has a long, injury free career in the sport. But, he's a third-rate driver, if he's number three anything. And he is never, ever, going to be a respected driver like he could have been had he shown respect to Dale, the number three, and his die hard race fans, stating, just like Jeff Gordon said: "tell me, who is ever going to drive the number 3, besides Jr, and it be okay? Who?" And he'll always be the kid who doesn't know his place. He'll never have the respect of the true Earnhardt fans. It'll never happen, I promise, I'm one of millions who will never root for him or care about his career in Cup, as long as he's in that number three car, period! Like, lump it, say whatever, it don't make any difference to myself or the rest of Earnhardt family of fans.
@tidalforcegaming94107 жыл бұрын
Again your opinion doesn't matter, get the fuck over it. And if you watch her interview again, she said specifically a "black number 3 car". I'm not an Austin Dillon fan, but excuse me? I didn't know you knew them personally to make the spoiled brat judgement? Hm interesting, and nobody gives a fuck if he gets the respect of the true Earnhardt fans, Jr probably doesn't, Kelly probably doesn't hell even Richard probably doesn't. Again your opinion on the matter matters zero, what matters was Jr's and Kellys and they both said they wanted to see it. They know the Dillons personally not you, so I'm gonna trust their judgment not yours. Jesus man, I'm the biggest Dale Earnhardt Sr fan in the world, I can't fucking stand it when people just want to connect him to a number and then call them selves fans of him. He was more than a number okay?! He was a man, who lived and breathed, and did great things. You seriously only think of a number when you hear his name? Plus in all reality the 3 is, was and always will be Richards number, he owns it and can do what he pleases with it. Earnhardt was his best friend he ever had, again I trust his judgment over yours, plus Dale knew the Dillons, not you. Again this isn't about you or your feelings, they dont matter, the only ones that matter were the Earnhardts, Richards, and the Dillons.

It would be a lot easier to deal with if Austin Dillon wasn't a whiny little bitch. If I was his crew chief or on his team in any way shape or form I wouldn't listen to his bitch ass on the radio. You can't fix spoiled kids. He's exactly the opposite of what Earnhardt was
@tidalforcegaming94107 жыл бұрын
Name one driver that doesn't whine over the radio. Do a quick youtube search and you will find communications of Kurt, Kyle Busch, Dale Jr, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart all fucking whining. Its a natural human thing to do when you're frustrated. Have you ever been working on the something and it won't quite do what you want to do? You get frustrated and start venting a little, or have you ever been playing a video game and you yell every time you die? Some thing everyone does it. Your driver whines, my driver whines. Dale Earnhardt Sr even whined over the radio, why? Because its human fucking nature.

If he stayed with RCR for one more year back in 2014 with the new chase format and shit, i bet he would have still won. That's all Harvick needed in my opinion, he was always the guy who would be there at the end, just never gotten enough points to get it done, but needed the new format and or win to actually get it done (i mean look at Ryan Newman! He came in 2nd that year!) Kevin wasn't nicknamed the closure for nothing. @jasonrobbins71436 жыл бұрын
I dont hate the man... I just hated that anyone besides an Earnhardt family member drove that car... Dale Sr.s mother wished that no one would drive it... Most of the Earnhardt family wishes that no one would drive that car... I think Jr. is only cool with it cause he doesn't want to cause a huge media rift if he came out & said no one should be driving the #3 for RC! I know Sr. chose Harvick to drive for RC but he didnt choose him to step in his car! I just always wished they would have respected the wishes of the Earnhardt family & most say they dont want to see anyone driving the #3! I was somewhat ok with Harvick cause they changed the # & paint scheme... But Austin Dillon driving the #3 just bugs me! I think Austin is a good young man! I guess im upset at RC for letting him drive the #3! He cant let his grandson pick any other #? I just believe that the only person who should get to drive the #3 their last name should be Earnhardt! Just my opinions!

He didn't choose Harvick specifically, no, but he did want the #3 car to continue on in the event of his death. Childress said Dale as much during a hunting trip.
@jasonrobbins71436 жыл бұрын
Buddy RC has gone back n forth on this issue... Yes ive heard of the hunting trip Sr. & RC went on where they supposedly talked about if anything happened to Sr. he would want RC to carry on with business as usual! Yet there are plenty of other interviews hes done where hes said it wont be right putting the #3 out there without Dale Earnhardt driving it... Again even when Jr. raced the #3 at Daytona that one yr & won that race! After the race everyone was so happy! Rick Hendrick as he owned Jr. the Driver! RC as he owned the Car! & im sure they were happy to see an Earnhardt drive the #3 to a win at Daytona! But even after the race the guy interviewing RC asked him if they would ever think about doing this again even though RC said this would be a one time only type of deal! The guy asking RC said the fans & everyone loved this so much seeing Jr. in the #3! Would u ever think about doing this again at some point? RC said this was a one time only deal! So lets just be real RC has gone back n forth on his word about bringing back the #3! I believe it was in 2010 that Jr. won the Daytona in the #3! Now these are just my opinions! if u guys love seeing the #3 out there! Im glad u are happy & get enjoyment from it! To me it just kinda rubs me the wrong way! But to each their own!

That’s the thing, Dale won his first championship in a #2 car.. Ricky Rudd drove the 3 before Dale did.. Richard Childress was the first one to drive the 3.. that’s right, Drive the 3. Case in point The 3 is Richard Childress’s. It always has been his. Sure dale made a hell of a name for himself in the 3 but it is infact RC’s. He can do with it as he likes. He can put whomever he wants behind the wheel. That’s the beauty of it. Because ITS HIS.

Reading the comments about how they should not move on with the #3 car I have to ask, What would Dale have wanted? Wouldn't he want his car, and his team to go on wining races? Or would he want to shut it all down? Drivers say it all the time, "it was a team effort" and the sponcors who made it possible.
@rickdavis35936 жыл бұрын
NASCAR's tradition is to never retire a number, the Petty's have leased the #45 each year since Adam's death to honor him. I think Richard should of done the same with the #3.

Rick Davis Richie Evans a modified driver and NASCAR HoF'er. His number is retired and hasn't been used since his death.
@stephenholloway68932 жыл бұрын
Actually since his death the 61 car did return once in 2003 in the Modifies. The number isn't officially retired. Even in the Cup series, that number last ran in 2006. Look it up on racing reference by the number in both cup and modifies. That said, it's possible that behind the scenes NASCAR did eventually chose to retire the number either after 06 or after Evens went to the hall of fame but not publicly admit it. But technically to my knowledge it's not officially retired. Just unofficially at best. Otherwise they would had retired it at once after Evens died.

Dale's Mom didn't want number three to be driven. What in the world was Richard thinking. I feel so sorry for Kevin. You did great Kevin.

Talks about #3 this number 3 that. Didn't none of you watch the movie DALE? Earnhardt even said if anything where to happen to him to the race must go on. Anyways he should of at least slapped a 0 IN FRONT of that 3 #03

I was about to say this exact thing. Dale wanted his number and car to keep racing. Told Richard that when they had discussed dales retirement

Nascar wont retire numbers. soon they would be using triple digits. That takes up more ad space and too hard to read. Also Dale drove other numbers as well. #8, #2. Plenty of memorials to Dale without retiring numbers.
