I think they got it right! It is actually the opposite of what you are saying Joel! The floor was set before the season rankings, not after the championships. The championships just corrected the error made by the coaches and the media at the start of the season. The Top 10 had SEC teams and 4 big 10 teams! They were already setting the playoffs to be SEC Big 10 biased. I think the committee corrected a flaw and no, Alabama isn't better than SMU and nor should they have gotten in. Either Texas or Oregon is going to win the Title. The system actually works. It isn't the best and has flaws. But this was right.

Dude, WTF are you smoking ? College football has never been a meritocracy! It has always been a popularity contest! If you wanted to make it a Meritocracy make 8 conferences. Then have those champs play in a playoff system to decide the 4 team playoffs! The losers play in consolation bowls like the Rose Bowl , Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, and Cotton Bowl. Then you have your 2nd tier bowl games Holiday, Pop Tart, Cheezit ect... Other wise this is just shilling because Alabama didn't get in.
