I truly believe that Kevin's show gave me many more years of life because of the dozens of hours of laughter I received. There was no radio show like it at the time and nothing like it since then. Kevin's show was a blessing to all of us that needed something to escape to. Bless you Kevin!

Yep. Late 80s, early 90s AM LUP was Brandmeier in the mornings, Kev in mid-day, Steve and Gary in afternoons, Chet Coppock in the evening, and for a year or so Ed Till late nights. Classic radio. Life before I joined the military in 1993.

Loved that lineup. I went to see a Chet Coppock live appearance in 1988 at a sports bar in Lincoln Village Shopping Center. Chet threw a tantrum because they wanted him to do something he didn't want to do, it was so hilarious to see live. He was so frigging tall.

I’m in tears! Back in the day I actually had to pull off the road more than a few times laughing too hard to drive. This is the best trip down memory lane. I hope to run into Kev someday and say Hi. We’re living in the same town these days.

Please post!! This stuff is gold! I just ordered the entire Carpenters collection and I was so stoked they had it in 8-Track so needless to say i am Gonna blow out the doublewide the second I get it! He was so funny but the seemless integration of Jimmy Shorts was truely talent. There were people that I used to hang with that would not believe me that Kevin and Jim shorts were the same guy. AM1000 was a great Idea and it worked. I used laugh my ass off! They couldn’t do this now because someones feelings would get hurt… its comedy. I am gratful. I rarely if ever comment on anything, but after having the end of LUP videos show up in my feed and hearing this broadcast as a result, I honestly can't remember the last time I listened to "radio" and laughed to the point of tears. Feels awesome, really miss it, used to have this literally every day growing up with Chicago radio, and only now just realized how awesome it was, and thanks to these posts, still is.

I look back on here once in a great while to remember the good ol days of radio. I adopted some of his humor as well and still today have cliques of Kev's quotes like "You're not getting older- just longer; Is it Wrong? Not at all..Thankful to be able to know what it was to be a Kevhead !

@37:40: I remember - hopefully accurately - the time Kev was hanging w/ S&G and they called into Eddie Schwartz' show and Kevin pretended to be an airline pilot asking for instructions from O'Hare to downtown. Eddie thought it was on the level and starting to give the highway route but Kev the pilot said No that he was still flying and wanted the route via the air. It was the funniest thing I've ever heard.

Does anybody know who did the "Elvis Fragments" at 1:04:59? He says his name is Vester Esposito but I can't find anything under that name. Dahl and Matthews used to play those clips from time to time and nobody seems to remember who did them or where they came from. I remember there was one where Elvis is being interviewed in the car and he can't get into the front gate at Graceland and is yelling for somebody to open it up for him, great stuff.

To me, Kev was the like family to comforting in state of things then to today even. Multi talented esp. with all those characters (Jim shorts;Devon;Darnell etc) I like Howard for the more shockjock on the edge of pissing you off but you laugh anyway. i have room for both in appreciation for what was the good 'ol days of radio. Love Howard Stern but i'm a Kevhead 1st and foremost.
