Morgan, Buttler, Roy and Hales were all going at a strike rate of around 100 or even 100 plus during his captaincy. Others like Root and Moeen were going pretty close. KP was a good batsman as a big fish in a small pond, in a continually under achieving team. But what Morgan’s captaincy brought about was insane, scoring 350 to 400 plus just for fun, winning series’s all over the world; and that after taking over a team that went out of the WC meekly in the first phase in 2015. And he certainly contributed with the bat, except for that last year before he retired (but nobody can go on forever anyway).

It wasn't really just internal politics - KP as he has admitted made some pretty bad errors of judgement that finally finished his career, including texting the team he was playing against in a test match. Strauss and the coaching team should have man managed him better for sure, he was the player of his generation, and the best I have seen in an England shirt.

Please explain to me how he betrayed the team? Are you referring to the overblown texting scandal in 2012? All that boiled down to was KP texting a couple of South African players calling Strauss a dick - Strauss who had earlier in the day absolutely berated KP in front of a few South African players for talking to them after the match. Strauss was being a knob, but KP probably shouldn't have sent those texts. He apologised for it, was re-integrated into the team and wasn't a problem again. Then he was sacked as a scapegoat for the 2013 Ashes.

I think very few cricketers have had the pleasure and honor of being able to revolutionize an entire generation of sportsmen to follow their nation, and I am glad to have been alive to see it happen twice - Sachin Tendulkar for India and Kevin Pieterson for England. Although I was too young to understand the nuances of the game whilst Tendulkar came into the foray and it was one thing moreso to be in awe of his gameplay, but seeing the change of the English team's mindset post Pieterson's explosive career was something else. I always saw the English team as this meek minded counterpart living under the shadow of much better teams and making merry being at number 4 and 5 in the ODI Team ratings. And despite the likes of Flintoff and Trescothick who were genuises in their own right they missed a spark which was turned into something else entirely - And that, in my opinion was Kevin Pieterson.
