I hate how Toby's trying to draw distinctions between families, as if Kate and Kevin haven't been together for literally their entire lives. And as if his kids aren't Kevin's neice and nephew. Of course he'd be worried about them. And if his being unemployed wasn't such a big deal to him, he wouldn't be acting so insecure.

Toby is under a lot of stress. He is unemployed and worries that he won't get a job.

@@dietrichjoanne I understand that. He should just also understand that it isn't Kevin's fault. I mean, the moment he assumed he knew when he actually didn't and outed himself, should have been embarrassing enough that he'd apologize, at least to Kate for assuming she told, and bite his tongue for the rest of the dinner.

Kate didn't get a college degree. She just graduated from a community College.

You... you get an associates degree from graduating community college... Did you not know that, or do you just not think that counts as a degree?

@@maybewise , it is just an associate degree. Teachers need a bachelor's degree. I don't know of any school that would hire someone with an associate degree.

@@dietrichjoanne Did she not say teaching ASSISTANT?... Either way, if someone can get a job with an associates, good for them. As someone who's tried to make it with barely any college education due to not being able to afford it, I can tell you that it is realistic. People make exceptions when they already know you, or you're mutually connected to credible people.

@@maybewise , this was before she got the teacher assistant job. Those jobs pay slightly above minimum wage. You can't support yourself much less a family on that salary.
