I'd known Kevin since he was a little boy. I sat in his dad's driveway in Fair Oaks and critiqued his first attempt at a demo. As a Garth fan at the time I told him I would buy his music. His first CD (not published) was before he met David Foster. His subsequent songs were awesome but the first are my favorite. Kevin's niece, my daughter Danielle, lost her battle last week. Not with the cancer but the long lasting side effects of the treatment. Danielle and Kevin shared the cancer battle at the same time and at times in the same hospital. Kevin's family is blessed with natural soulful singers. Danielle was no exception, had perfect pitch and a beautiful voice. They are together now upgrading God's choir. Rest in peace brother Kevin and my darling daughter Danielle.

I cant sleep, haven't slept since Wednesday when I got a call from my doc because something is wrong with my blood work for my knee surgery scheduled for March 6th in two days. He asks my husband and I to come in and talk to him. I couldn't believe what I was hearing when he said Mrs. Wilcox you have cancer. I couldn't even breath. Today i go and instead of having my knee surgery I am confirming I have Leukemia. I am 42 years old. This song randomly for no reason showed up this morning on my KZbin pay list. And I'm bawling really hard just now. We haven't even told our children yet. I have no idea how to even look at them and tell them that Mom is really sick. I have had humor so I don't cry as much, really inappropriate humor but hey at this point I don't care. I've looked af myself so many times and just been like, Holy Shit!! I have cancer?!?!?! Like this is the most surreal moment of my life. I am putting this song in my .music playlist so I can just keep listening and listening to the words over and over again.

Being ask to film Kevin at the time, He only wanted one camera. He wanted it simple. Later during filming, I was told he knew there was no hope left. But he still wanted all of us to always keep hoping, His hope got him this far. It was not easy filming after that. But with blurry eyes I was able to do my best. I was surrounded by people, many of them tearing up. But I am so thankful I was ask to film. I will never forget.

I was going through some very tough years of my life and Kevin inspired me to become who I am today. In our short conversation, he somehow saw the hurt in my face and lifted me with his words. I am just happy that your brother was able to live his dream with his short life but very sad that we lost such a wonderful human being and man. I would love to know more about him but also understand the need for privacy. God bless.

My grandma has always been more up to date (his mother) I am beating myself up watching these videos of him after being at his service this last weekend. But I saw the date on this and realize that this was not that long ago.I wish I could have been at more of his performances. I was at the first bunch when he first started so many years ago. Watching him when he landed his first tour. I just can't believe he's gone. RIP uncle I love you forever!! I miss you already! Kevin was one of favorite country singer I saw him at a county fair got there many hours early and to get lucky and see Kevin and band do a sound check all by myself for a half hour was great after the concert Kevin did a meet & greet I was told by many people that night Kevin & I looked like brothers very special time, I purchase Kevin book and he sign it great read, Years later I was diagnosis with stage 3 cancer to see how Kevin handled his cancer help me with handled mine coming up on 10 years survivor.
