Thanks for this great tutorial! I got the parts and had them working in no time thanks to your write up. I am hoping to add a temp sensor to the boron with a low temp alarm push notification to the same device. Having trouble finding documentation on doing that and hoping you might have some advice!? Thanks in advance!

Fantastic video, exactly what I need! Did I miss the party on how exactly to monitor the power state? The Boron does all that? That link is 404... So, just asking 😁

Another great project! Do you have any concern with the batteries on these projects being fire hazards? As always, thanks for sharing and documenting all of your work!

The Boron from particle is sold-out and discontinued. I’d really love to build this. Any advice on what to do given that this particular board you reference is gone? I checked all over and didn’t even see anything available to buy used (e.g eBay).

can you give us any details on how to use "Push Notifications" in this application. It sounds like it can be done without a GSM data/txt plan, but can't figure out how. tnx Doug NB: I looked into EtherSIM ... man.... who thought that one out was brilliant!

Good video, well explained, about pushnotification is possible to send from mobile to the board?
@rj443193 жыл бұрын
If it is like Push Safe, I don't think that is possible.

should that main loop have a sleep if it decides it hasn't been 10 seconds yet? seems like it is spinning on that check as fast as possible.

How LTE service work without monthly fee?
@TheChemicalWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
same question... i live in germany and a sim card would be prob 5€ a month to kept active
@repcsi3 жыл бұрын
AFAIK it isn't, there is usually a flat fee for particle products like 2$/month if you stay below a given data transfer rate. You may be able to use a different carrier, at least you could with the older particle electron (this had it's own issues).
@Kevindarrah3 жыл бұрын
yea it was $3/mo, but now they have a free plan. Just go to their website and click on pricing to see what you get with the free plan

Maybe I missed it, but, I'm wondering how you connected to the property? I would want it to notify me whe the grid power comes back on when I'm using a generator and power comes back on.

I realize this is a 10 month old question, but. He was sensing the USB input. If it had USB power connected, mains power is clearly there. If the USB input doesn't have power, then it would stand to reason that the power to the USB adapter is off.

Will this work with a boron 404x that uses 2g?
@ianhayden2839 Жыл бұрын
Update: For all whom this may concern, the 404x particle boron is compatible with this project and many more. It is just an updated version of the board used in this project, that runs on the 2G and 3G network

@@Kevindarrah I built one myself. It has a classic Victor mousetrap and an ESP8266. When the trap trips, continuity between the retainer bar and the kill bar is lost. The ESP then sends an email through SMTP2GO. The entire thing is housed in a small 3D printed box. I've caught a few. Nice to get an alert when your trap is in an hard-to-access location.

i just realosed, when you upen the box, that i made an arduino with wifi, to send telegram message, that power is off, but wifi will be off to, im like LOL sooo ignorant i am lol lol , now im like foooak what do i do

Overly complicated project. I prefer a standard light bulb. That will turn off in case of a power outage, and turn back on when it returns ... But there are other methods, with or without remote signalling which are quite a bit easier to create.

60€ steep :(
@MrRowskey3 жыл бұрын
You can do it a lot cheaper with a $15 Arduino Nano 33 IoT and a couple other parts. I use Blynk to monitor mine, wifi only. It alerts me if it loses connection, but the power I'm monitoring is not critical, but a single breaker. Only care if the house has power but the breaker trips.
