Superbe concert comme celui auquel j'ai eu le bonheur d'assister en 1964 à l'Olympia. Quel mémorable souvenir. Et merci aux Shadows pour ce merveilleux morceau " Apache " qui m'a fait commencer la guitare en 1959 et je ne me lasse toujours pas de jouer beaucoup de leurs morceaux phare.

I was at that Paris Olympia concert in 1964 as a British soldier serving in Fontainebleau. Drove home with friends after. A great night, a great group in a great country.

I like your taste buddy. Furthermore 77 is a good number Cliff and the Drifters back in 1958 then Apache July 1960. I picked up the drums ever since. Then came Knopfler and the Sultans!!! Man 2 songs I would pick at my earthy farewell. Great bands keep enjoying them

This concert from the 1983/4 tour took place at the NEC Birmingham on 10 July 1984 and led to two video releases. This one, “The Shadows Live”, was issued on VHS in 1996. From WC USA, stationed in Germany USAF, one of our Airmen with more rank, had a new Opel with a really good radio and we would drive around our city listening to Radio Luxemburg after dark and that was the first time I had heard of The Shadows, they were great! I tried to find their records in the Army PX but I think I finally had to go to a German store to find an Album of their’s! I think it cost 20 Marks, which was about $5.00 back then, which was late summer of 1962, if I remembered correctly! I can listen again now on KZbin which is great!

I'm with Mike Ratigan. I wish I had been exposed to the Shadows when they first appeared on the R&R Scene. I don't know if my late Brother was acquainted with them back in the 60y's. He and his band were on the edge of becoming major players in the R&R era about the time of the Beatles. I don't know why I never heard of them. Thanks, now I can listen to all of their Albums and Concerts on KZbin. Just love their sound. Superb Talent !!!

Will we see them "live" again ? It's now 24 yes since their 2000 Birmingham concert. As a kid in 1960s when I first heard of the Shadows (Ventures to me, were the no.2 group). In 1964 when I had the opportunity to go overseas to UK to further my studies. I bought a tape recorder and converted all my Shadows LPs to reel tapes so as a boarding school student I could listen to them on my headphone. When Philips came out with cassettes I did a similar transfer. Then came mp3 (and Spotify). I still keep The Shadows with me. I event bought a Fender Statocaster in Hank's red/white livery. I can't play it but it will always remind me of Hank & The Shadows. Now into my eighties, my only regret is I never had the opportunity to go see & hear them live. When I die, as my body lay-in-state, all I ask is for the sound of The Shadows to be played softly in the background. God Bless Thr Shadows.
