There are so many singer-songwriters out there I feel like I will just be a drop on the ocean. I don’t really have any knowledge about anything that I can share. Just my music and my rescue dogs. Throughout my career, I’ve been on a constant creative journey, always looking for ways to tell stories that connect with people and offer a fresh, challenging perspective. What’s holding me back is every time I click on an “anyone can do KZbin” video, I see someone who is obviously gifted and experienced with editing, producing, etc. lol! You have a great presence and such an amazing voice. I’m afraid I would sound like the one person they always interview after the tornado takes the above ground swimming pool!😂 Thanks for the encouragement! ❤

Or maybe you wouldn't. Its way to easy to compare ourselves to others, especially if its something we want to do. Everyone starts someone. You were created with a purpose. If you want to do video on KZbin, just do it.

1. EVERYONE hates hearing their own voice on a recording at first! That's because we've been listening to ourselves with the ears that are, well, attached to our heads! - Our voice comes from the inside. - Everyone else's voice comes to our ears from the "outside". That's why our own voice seems flat, strange, foreign and often higher then we're used to when we hear a recording of it. --> You'll get used to hearing yourself in your videos and soon become comfortable with it. 2. Resist comparing yourself to others. You are unique. 😊 Everyone is. Their circumstances and starting point are different. You start from yours and - just be you! OK. Now go and shoot your first video.

Hi Kevin, we have a very similar career path. I have always worked as an editor and director in television and advertising. I'm 66 years old and I started a channel three months ago in which I talk about my lifestyle here in the countryside in northern Italy. The thing that surprised me in some way is that my audience is made up of people aged 25 to 64 and that the 25 to 34 range is significantly higher. I find it very interesting. Another thing I really appreciate is that the comments come from many countries with very different cultures.

Hey Kevin, I started my channel in March 2024 at age 69. I love it. It's a legacy for my children. I don't have a niche; I post when I want to, I'm no beauty, but I get in front of the camera for every video, and my lighting is not good. I use my laptop to make my videos. I'm not pressured to be what someone wants me to be; I'm just me. You folks out there who want a KZbin channel...jump in; the waters are just fine!

Same here. I decided to have a try my channel again 2021. I decided to flip my thinking narrative in 2021 after burning out in 2014 on my Y/T. Went from 54 to 1300+ subs current. I also joined a group interested in the same gaming also assisted in the channel growing. It's fun having a Ytube channel and grow your community at your pace. This was the philosophy I used for me. I'm older but have fun gaming still even if my reflexes aren't as great as 20 years ago, make a channel about casual gaming and I don't have to be perfect. People will like it or hate it. Get to use my second interest computer tech when editing. I can only basic editing at best even.

I'm 47, started uploading videos of my hounds last December. I'm retired U.S. Army and work now as IT network engineer. I have been in and out of a depressed state since I retired, my three dogs always make me happy no matter what, so one day I decided to upload a few videos of them being silly with the hope that maybe someone would see them and it would brighten their day just a little bit. Next thing I know I started getting subscribers and building a community. Now I look forward every day to the comments I get on the videos and it has definitely brought alot of joy back into my life. Anyone out there reading this that might be in a similar situation that I was in should definitely try creating a channel, it helped me greatly!

I had the same feelings as you in the beginning, I would post a video then I would delete it because I didn’t think it came out right I did this like four or five times before I finally was like screw it and decidedto keep a video up my first video that I decided to keep up his on animal crossing for the Nintendo switch so I just made my channel about gaming. I originally I originally I wanted my channel to be about anything I want to talk about, but then I realized that when I talked about certain things people just didn’t care. I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t focus too much on the small stuff. Just do what you enjoy and the views and subscribers will come, and it is important to know there is no exact formula for the KZbin algorithm some videos you make that you think are good will get very few views while others you make that you think suck will be the ones that get hundreds of 1000s of views sorry if this is long winded, I just figured it may help.

Great video. I started my KZbin channel when I started recording my own music in my home recording studio. My studio is like yours, a spare bedroom which is my sanctuary for writing songs and the whole process until it is released. I was asked to do a reaction video and then it started to get busy. I am not monetized as I am a Canadian Veteran and it would affect my benefits. I actually love music and it keeps me healthy (PTSD). Hi Kevin!!! Thanks for posting this video. Enjoyed learning from it. I'm in my 50's. Started Youtubing in June of 2024. Currently over 700 vids and short vids. Almost 800 subs too. Doing like you said and focused on KZbin. There's a lot to learn. My audience is mostly older males with older woman, which I'm starting to see higher numbers of. My content is based on what I want to create, and when I notice large subs in response to a topic, I create more to feed that interest. My biggest draws are gumball machines, drag racing, and an old ratty lawnmower. 😂😂😂 There's a market for everything. Anyways, I subscribed to your channel. Appreciate your knowledge. I started posting KZbin videos in April of this year, at the age of 56. It's pretty niche stuff (I go for walks in the English countryside, film a bunch of footage and then edit down as an abridged version of the experience), but as a friend told me recently - KZbin is full of niches. That's part of the brilliance of it - we get to see good content that would probably never be commissioned for TV. Perhaps the one thing that I've been surprised by is my reaction to getting likes, subscribes and nice comments from complete strangers. Coming from an IT background, to receive positive feedback from people about something creative that I've made is a bit of a new experience. It feels like it validates the effort I've put in.

I love KZbin, I have a cooking channel, it's what I love to do, and I love to make friends and talk endlessly, so it's a natural fit for me. I had no experience at all. It's funny I ran out of a school class for fear of public speaking, now because of KZbin I am not afraid. I started during covid. I'm at it 4 yrs, and I'm 62 so for me, it's the best hobby I could add to my list. I love doing anything creative so this for me is about fun, I don't think I'll ever get money out of it, but who knows I'm creative so we will see how that end of it goes. I and hubby are retired, and he helps me so much he is a retired IT manager and programmer, so It's amazing to share it together. Right now he's recovering from surgery, but will be back soon. I must say it's not easy to get monetized, I have been at it hard and still trying to reach that 1000 subscribers. I think it's harder for a cooking channel because there are so many.
