I made this ascent with my young son many years ago but rather than returning from the summit by the same route we continued to the head of the Gleniff horseshoe and came down past the old mine workings, My wife was waiting with the car at the building known as the old schoolhouse. On another occasion I climbed alone to Diarmuid & Grainne's cave but that is not recommended - one section is horrifyingly steep.
