Finaly a video that shows how you actually drill the holes straight. Very nice and well made! I don’t currently have access to any kind of metal working tools but now at least I know how I would go about doing such a mod for my leatherwork needs.

I use pipe threading cutting oil from big box store vs WD-40, it's cheap. Just got one of these, spent the money to make versatile instead of purchasing a press for grommets, Figured I could do a lot more with one like yours!! Lastly looks like if you need to press something at the top end you can just flip the ram around, no loss in press height.

Excellent video! I have the identical arbor press and have found that I cannot work a well annealed Morgan dollar with this machine. With that arm there is very little mechanical advantage. I can easily work the Morgan dollar in my mid sized bench vise that has an 9" arm. If you want to work the Morgan, you would need maybe a four foot lever arm on this press. I have not tried to work smaller coins on this press.

Thanks Kevin! You did pretty good mods to this cheap press. I have the same one, but my drill press is short, so to drill 3/8 I should twist drill's head about 45 degrees sideways and bring it closer to the bench vise and align all that together. Ahrr!

If you’ve got a mini lathe you should make a tool to hold hex bits. Make it so you can use a tommy bar or wrench to turn it to break loose frozen screws. You could do the same with the socket mod. I would use a 1/4 drive though. I think a 3/8 drive would be a bit much for its size.

If you wanted to keep the ram straight while you drilled a 3/8th hole, why not just keep the ram in the press itself and set the whole thing on the drill press table! By the way....your drill press needs a new quill. The chuck was wobbling all over the place....not very accurate drilling holes the way it is now.
