Thanks Kevin. Fixed! I had the knocking sound. Followed your video, unfortunately knocked the white box off centre and had to follow your other video to put that right. Had to take off the other side and front panel as well. Can't believe I got it all back together and bingo! it worked. Thanks again for your helpful videos

Very helpful this helped me learn how the printer works and I saw that the pad that cleans the printer heads was jammed up. I push it down and now it all works again.

Thank you for posting this video. The problem with my MX870 was that the white box/tray on the right side had become stuck in place due to some old ink. To fix this, I simply pushed down lightly on the white box/tray piece, cause it to move downwards a little bit, and then cleaned up the old ink nearby with a paper towel and a little acetone solvent (alcohol would work here too, I believe). Hopefully this description can help someone else. Best regards!

Hi! I'm from Philippines, I just want to want to ask what do I need to do because my printer(TS6120) is doing the opposite, it will firstly appear the loaded spring then the second time pass it will be unloaded spring...I'm not sure how to make it like yours in vid where the spring will unloaded first then it will be loaded the second time....I've tried moving the ladder upwards then i heard the clicked sound just like yours...

Hi Kevin, Thanks so much. I did subscribe because you asked me to. Update: My printer now is happy. It's getting really finicky in its old age. I hope it stays happy. I am wondering -- maybe you could tell me -- why is there so much spattered ink around those two gray pads? I tried doing a cleaning to unclog the print heads, and did an alignment (that's when I got the 6A81 error). What else should I try? There is SO MUCH ink spattered around there. Is there a tray inside I should empty? It is indeed very sticky and inky around there. You demo of how loose-movement the pads should be was useful. Somehow the part holding the two pads was stuck to the thingie "above" or "north" of them. I think it's only a matter of time before it gets stuck again. But mine is a MX886 (the big black Pixma) and taking it apart is scary and looks prone to error. If I lived in your town, I'd just bring it in.

Regarding the ink spatter around the gray pads, this is often caused by the cleaning and purging processes. During cleaning cycles, the printer flushes ink through the printhead into the capping station, and over time, excess ink can accumulate and create a mess. It’s not uncommon for the ink to spill over the edges, especially if the printer has been in use for a while. Unfortunately, many models, including your MX886, don’t make it easy to access the waste tray for cleaning, so the buildup becomes more noticeable. If you notice sticky or stuck parts, that could indicate dried ink binding the movement of the capping station. If you’re hesitant to take the printer apart-and I completely understand, it’s not an easy job-you can try using a small syringe with distilled water to loosen the area around the pads carefully. This can help clean out some of the excess ink without disassembling the printer. If the ink spatter continues or the capping station sticks again, you may want to consider a more thorough cleaning or even replacement of the capping station. Hi thanks for your video. I subscribed already. My Tr8520 can power up and scan but got error code 6004 if I try to print. After watch your video, I found the part that fall off from your video at the bottom. I put it back. Tested the 4 spring of the waste pad is good. Power up without the scanner and auto sheet feeder connect but got error code 5040 immediately. However after I put everything back and cycle power twice, it start working again. Thanks my problem resolved. Now the question is why that part fall off? Could this part fall off from shipping? I found the ink consume so fast. I only printed 300 pages in 2 years and already on 3 set of ink
