Bernie recorded this track, with Christy Sparling on guitar, for a fundraising CD for Bosnia at the time. The CD was a project of the Community FAS Scheme at St Joseph's Hospital, Mulgrave St, Limerick and Denis Allen was extremely helpful in it's production.

Small, but a wide and grand city. The only place outside of Dublin that doesn't feel like you're in the sticks.

Funny - only last night I said more or less the same thing while commenting on another video... While smaller than Cork, it actually feels (in the best sense) more urban somehow. It certainly feels more like a city than Galway (a place which - call me opinionated - always felt a little bit 'up itself' to me!) Though perhaps having a higher profile, and in spite of how much it's grown in recent decades, Galway to me retains more of the feeling of a large town.

@@richiehoyt8487 Cork feels incredibly indigenous. Most business are Cork-owned and operated. Feels claustrophobic due to the steep hills enclosing the city centre. Gets a sense that the town is on top of itself. A good standard of food but not the level it claims to be. Immediately outside of the city centre, there's a plethora of narrow street and old, small cottages everywhere. Needs investing. Lacks that grand, wide, open cityscape. Limerick has a lot more unutilised potential, although Cork does have a lot more shop, bars, and restaurants. Limerick is the true capital of Munster.

@@richiehoyt8487 nah, Cork’s far more urban, how could you look at the Elysian and say, nah limericks more urban?

The STICKS have a lot going for them. I was born and lived in limerick city. I hated it.I left for 45 years and when I returned I still didn't like the city. I now live in the sticks of Clare and love it.
