I have watch a lot of videos on removing duplicate values and they all explained well but you stand out simply because you never forget to zoom your screen so we can easily see what you are doing and you never ever forget to include the worksheet link file for us to download and practice with. Hello Kevin, I would like to thank you for this video, I have a project at my new job to create a spreadsheet to compare cost. So, I am copying and paste cells that have duplicate item numbers and i know I will have to remove the duplicates cells one by one but I then I discovered and watch your video. Thank you!!!!

Is there a way to highlight and/remove duplicated names between 2 separate column and in separate order? for example, column1 "Ann Marie Sally" column 2 "Sally, Sue". These columns would be highlighted because the word "Sally".

Hello Kevin, Hope you are doing well! How can I only delete the second duplicate but keep the first one? Say I have over 300 items I know they are duplicated maybe one or three times on my spreadsheet but I still want to keep one of them. How can I keep one and delete all the others? Thank you!

Hi, That is what 'remove duplicates' does. It leaves you with one of the values and removes the duplicate one. So if you highlight your 300 values and then on your data ribbon hit remove duplicates it will return the list with the duplicates removed leaving you with only unique values. So if you had three of one product it will still be there but only once.

Hi Kevin, how would I go about removing duplicate values in this scenario: “Product Description” “Product Size” “Stock on Hand Figure” example being something like this: “White Rice” “1kg” “0” and then duplicated “White Rice” “1kg” “5” now I want to remove all duplicates that have a Zero SOH figure? I hope that makes sense..

Hi Kevin, I need to highlight several duplicate items across several rows with more than one color, no numbers. I do not need to deleted data. This is to identify which parts are used by model. Conditional format does not work due to multiple duplicates and large set of data. Thanks.

Does anyone knows how to search entire workbook and return all records which match a certain value from a drop down list with or without a Macro? e.g. if we have a list of many large organization in a worksheet and have a list of all of their employee, first name, last name, phone, email, title,..... ( many per organization) in another worksheet. How one can see the records of all employees in an organization by selecting the organization's name from a list or drop down box, etc. I would appreciate if your insights.

Hey Kev, Thanks a lot for this. I was able to remove duplicated rows in multiple columns. However, my data was so repetitive that I didnt even know which one was original and which one was duplicate. Literally 4 columns with 4000 rows. Sometimes for column 2 rows, column 1 had duplicate rows, sometimes for column 2 rows, column 3 had duplicate rows, sometimes for column 3 rows, column 4 had duplicate rows, and basically just a whole mess. Its almost impossible to tell which data to delete and which one to keep in these 4 columns since I didnt have any background of the data, I just received it from corporate and now I’m supposed to clean it up. I couldnt say oh for column 1 this data doesnt match column 2 so maybe it should be removed? or for column 3, this data doesnt match to column 4, I have no idea what is what, but I’m supposed to make sense of it somehow. I deduced down 4000 rows into 20 rows with the help of delete duplicate rows but I think I quite literally deleted everything😂

Hi Kevin, looking at the last sheet Multiple Columns, is there a way to highlight those in the original data set? In other words, the conditional formatting for duplicate values, but then for multiple columns? Our a workaround? Greatly appreciated. Can't use power query to start left matching on two fields because my user community uses excel for web, and then they get not-supported messages, which is very annoying.

all your videos I've watched have been very helpful. The duplicate delete video was great but I need help moving it a step further. Example, I have an excel list with over 5000 rows of contact info and a dozen columns wide. After highlighting the duplicate emails through the column filter, I show approximately 15-20% of the worksheet are duplicates. Now I want to delete all the duplicate Rows of contacts within that group without messing up / rearranging column data in the entire worksheet (as has happened in the past). It's a bit more complex but I'm guessing you know how. Can you please explain?

Hello Kevin. I run a subscription service and have all my subscribers in a table. I need to create a control table to keep track of their colour 'likes' and 'dislikes'. The cells have all different values obviously have all different values based on their preferences. Which formula can I use that will include all cells that include but are not exclusively equal to one colour. Thank you!

What if I have duplicate values in a column but that's not what I'm after, but duplicate values across two columns. In more details, I will like to ONLY highlight duplicates across two different columns and not within the same column. Is there a way to go about this?

Hi I need help where I have 1 sheet of shares, buy/sell, amt ,no of shares and on the 2 sheet I have to find what stocks are currently active i.e. in previous sheet there will be lot of buy and sell entries but i need what is the total for each stock in 2 sheet howmuch stock I with hold im running excel 2016 please suggest me how to go about with that...

So you want to only return data when there is more than one? Then I would use the conditional formatting to highlight the duplicates and then delete or hide the others. Don't think their is a specific formula to automatically filter out Unique and only keep duplicates.

That's good, but I gotta say user interface of WPS Office is more intuitive and user-friendly compared to Microsoft Office, especially for basic tasks. take this as example, if I want to find or highlight or remove duplicates, I only take 2 steps: 1. select the range of your values 2. click “highlight duplicates”< “set” or 2. click “highlight duplicates”< “remove duplicatess”
