Kevin, I have to hand it to you, you are absolutely THE BEST teacher of these video tools I've ever encountered! I haven't encountered anyone else that I consider to even be in your class. You're instruction method is so thorough and progresses so logically. You also don't just wave your had in the air and say "I just selected the [whatever tool]" you SHOW the student what you are doing on the screen. This helps ENORMOUSLY. Thanks ever so much for your clean, logical, explicit and useful instruction. I think that even a novice like me can now learn to use this tool. Much THANKS again!

I've seen quite a few tutorials for beginners and I must say, this is the best I have seen, I appreciate how slow you walk us thru, and how you explain the purpose and what each thing does for your design, especially the curves, the few other videos i've watched they blow thru that and don't explain what it does or how to use it, im so thankful that you created this!

Just downloaded this yesterday, I took a ton of computer arts classes in high school and got pretty darn good at photoshop. Going back to this it was almost intimidating and jarring seeing all the options and tools that were difficult to remember. This was so refreshing, once I saw this video twice and really took in the core essentials to editing I was able to finish a personal project in a day. Reminded me of how much I love graphic designing.

What does .XCF stand for?
@EmptyHandshake2 күн бұрын
@@Rishiਸ਼ਰਮਾ I had to google that to find out. Good question, though. XCF, short for eXperimental Computing Facility, is the native image format of the GIMP image-editing program. It saves all of the data the program handles related to the image, including, among others, each layer, the current selection, channels, transparency, paths and guides.

I think you skipped a step somewhere. When I tried to scale up the stack of cookies it gave me the message, "The selection does not interact with the layer". I had to go searching around on the Gimp website to find someone else who had the same problem. In case anyone else has the same problem, this was the right answer, "Looking at your screenshot, you have Kevin Cookie Company etc. selected, but the current layer is Stack of Cookies. These two do not intersect (overlap), so the message you see is exactly what is happening. If you have a selection, the scaling tries to only scale the selected part of the layer, but in this case the selection is outside the layer. If you just want to scale the layer, make sure you remove the selection: menu Select -> None, or Shift+Ctrl+A." So I tried that and it worked. The only problem being that because I'm completely new to this kind of software, a total beginner, I didn't understand the explanation. Not even a bit. But at least I got it going gain.

I thought you did a great job setting up this lesson. It covered a lot for the half-hour of video. I have learned about a bunch of tools and I finally understand how to use GIMP. I just found that you tend to rush through stuff at the end. As I followed along, I discovered that there were settings within the tools that made the tool work for you, but left me in a quandary. Additionally, as you flashed which tools you were using, and then quickly went back to the image caused me to rewind for nearly every action for the last 15 minutes or so. I hope you will revisit, and possibly republish this video. The premise and the lesson were perfect. You just need to slow down when demonstrating which tool you're using and what their setting are set to.

Few people that remember Photodraw 2000 can believe I am still using it. I have yaught myself everything there is to know about it and computers in general. My new computer has no disc drive to download photodraw but i'm sure there is a way but I always wanted to upgrade. I'll never know why the new editors don't follow photodraws lead when it comes to user friendly. It was mostly straight forward. You just try and try. You read what something is and try it out and before you know it your doing impressive stuff. These new ones are beyond complicated. I almost uninstalled it cuz there is no way I'm going to re-learn everything I learned. I mean keep the new stuff coming but damn, I think sometimes they made it so hard on purpose. It's insane. Your video has proven to me I can hanle it. I actually learned some things. Thanx
