Being 75 years old, computing will always be my "second language." But I try to keep up. I'm now training to be a Museum Docent and all the training files are being available to me via Google Drive. So I wanted a basic tutorial. This was very helpful to access and manage the files coming to me.

As a retired college professor, I speak from experience when I say that explaining something simple is much harder than explaining something hard. You have to hit a narrow window between condescending to the audience and losing them, and you have to sound credible without sounding either bored *or* unduly invested. You have to enunciate without taking on a conspicuous affect, you have to present confidence and humility at the same time, and you have to anticipate the things that the audience might not know, even if you know them. All of which is a long, college-professor kind of way of saying that this is an absolutely *outstanding* job.

I should know better by now, Kevin. I frequently make the mistake of looking for the shortest "explainer" video, only to come back to your tutorials with my tail between my legs. Other folks go so fast it is hard to follow what they are doing. One of the things I love most about your videos is the use of the cursor effects you employ; you make it so easy to follow your examples.

You are officially my "go to" guy for computer help... even with 35+ years from DOS to all versions of Windows, I still have a lot of "I didn't know that" tips and tricks that I pass along to others. I was starting to think about switching from Windows to Google or Linux but lately thinking about learning all three and then deciding. Windows 11/12 will be the only options for Microsoft after October 2025. My hardware (Win 10) is too old to convert. I want to be prepared NOW.

You very briefly covered the Computers function, but I think it's one of the most powerful features in Drive. It synchronises with your computer and automatically uploads files and folders within seconds - this means you can mirror your computer files and folders in the cloud. It's a brilliant system, so much so, I hardly use MyDrive at all.

I have been using back up and sync for the past 2-3 years & I love it...almost. The problem with google drive was always not having the ability to access the files stored in the drive (cloud) directly from my computer. Yes I could create 1 local folder, complete that project and when I am done I could upload it to the drive but that kinda defeats the purpose for cloud storage. All that does is add extra steps. One day I came across back up & sync...then fell in love. My google drive folders are as easy to access & use as the traditional windows folders (documents, downloads, this PC, etc etc etc). NOWWW..3 years later & I have realized something that is driving my crazy. I know there has to be a simple fix but idk where that fix is. So essentially back up and sync made things seem easier but having backup and sync (from where I stand right now) COMPLETELY removes the primary utility of cloud storage. Most people use cloud storage for 1 of 2 reasons (or both). #1 the files will always be there even if your phone or computer breaks. #2 to save storage on devices. I just realized running back up and sync, therefore allowing me to access google drive folders locally, also stores the physical files locally. So I have ~63 GB saved in google drive. Well when I go digging through the storage section found in settings on my computer, my biggest local storage consumption is coming directly from that 63 GB drive folder. Is there a way to fix this?

The thing I love about Google Drive a lot better than iCloud is that you aren’t limited on storage because if you want to store more content you can create a second account to add more content that way you’re not limited on space where with iCloud you have to buy more storage if you use up all your space.
