Lunsford 5mm titanium toe links are the best purchase money can buy for an e revo. This actually makes the rear hub carriers pretty indestructible because they are completely solid and don’t break. As someone whose broken 7 stock toe links, I give Lunsford a thumbs up.

I know where you're coming from, it's a lot of cash to throw at a car but! My outcast and kraton are by far the most fun cars I've ever driven. Also I like to send these cars off ramps at 50 mph. I'm not sure of many cars that can handle that kind of abuse without a lot of upgrades.

All of the vxl motors overheat it seems like to me. My Kraton has been much better. I always had Traxxas trucks for years but they were nitro. I've found my slash 4×4 vxl can't even really run 3s even with stock gearing. It overheats within a couple mins and so does the other vxl 3s trucks I've seen. So its sitting until I get a better motor and esc. I'm not driving it on 2s because I would be bored. It's not enough for the way I bash. I like 1/8 scale better anyway.

I know this comment was years ago but on 2s the vxl is actually faster then you think. I run a 46/31 gearing and on 2s I can hit 75-80mph. Granted mine is a 2wd so I’m not bashing it, only straight line and track. It does overheat pretty damn fast though with that gearing, takes about 15mins of running it wot.

I think the RC hobby is like 80% rebuilding what is broken and that is a major issue a lot of newcomers aren't ready for. Stuff breaks. You don't need to be multi-billion-squillionaire like Kev here to enjoy RCing. You just need to be realistic in how much you can spend, then how much you are prepared to spend over time keeping your RC of choice running. Seriously it is a cheap hobby if you are smart! Research, listen to people like Kev, he does all the hard work so we can make easier decisions.

I would say a big weakness for the Xmaxx is the stock body. I have seen many people break it and snap the rear off on the first runs. Also nice video👍👍👍

That a v4 Kraton with the tower brace removed or is it a v3? Seems like you don't have any issues with the arrma v4 based models that addressed virtually all the v3 chassis issues (aside from the ads15 servo that arrma just needs to bin). Arrma diffs do tend to need to be shimmed though - but then they're quite durable. Haven't broke a single thing in my v4 Talion besides a single shock rod end. Definitely agree on how much of a pita the erevo can be. I hate working on that chassis.

My E Revo 2.0 is bone stock aside from 60wt shock oil and Badlands, and I have beat the crap out of it. I’ve been a lucky one with the rear links, only one stripped end. Otherwise, zero damage whatsoever. I’m talking 30 foot jumps onto concrete. But, other people have different luck. My luck has been good! So true though Kev, whatever puts the biggest smile on your face is what you should be driving! Bashing wise, for me, is the E Revo.

Of six Arrma RC's I own, the V4 Kraton 6s is my least fav. The V3 Talion, my first, is my best. 3. XMaxx may be solid but I don't buy from tricksters any more. I've sold or let sit all my Traxxas vehicles....including VXL Slash that still can't get right even with piles $ in it, and ER-2.0 that I was glad I sold off. Absolute fail, that one. 4. Why buy a 4s Arrma when 3s is very solid and 6s are unbeatable? 4s was made for the middle road buyer and in any tech or anything, middle of the road is always the one that is least dependable. rofl. I have broken a lot on my rustler vxl 4x4 shock tower ,turnbuckles ,camber links, today a c-hub, control arms ,blew up a motor, stripped a spur, tires have came unglued, disintegrated the shocks ,broken the front diff housing ,and both bumpers, I have yet to break a driveshaft! I run the car on 3s full throttle on the sand covered street in front of my house. Im wondering if the lighter diff fluid is why. I run 15k in the front 10k in the back and thats the only difference I can see other than I dont jump a lot. Ive read that stock fluid is 30k in the front and grease in the back maybe try my setup and you can get some more time on it.

Great review...My biggest problems with the Rustler 4x4 vxl is the tires...4 came with the vehicle, and after only 4 runs with 5000 mah batts i had to replace a tire because the sidewall ripped 1/2 arround the tire...i bought 2 replacement tires and ive ripped 3 more sidewalls...i swithced to 10 year old talons, same rocky track and ive had no issues with the older talons. Ive destroyed the plastic servo and only one drive shaft...over all i would recommend the Rustler 4x4 vxl to anyone, but if u bash hard you will need upgrades...ohh and yes...replace the shock caps with metal ones. the plastic ones come off relatively easy and then i got to clean up a dirty oily truck.

My ECX Torment 4x4 puts the biggest smile on my face! Only had a few things go wrong with it. First I cooked the stock brushed motor (was waiting for a brushless system to come in anyways) then when I got the brushless system I didn't know that the spur gear was plastic so that got chewed up. Then I got a hot racing metal spur gear and it's ripping around! It's a year old as of right now.

Sound vid KT! Glad you say it how it is and stand up for the end user - these things are spen! Basically, i'd rather be driving than fixing. Too many other things to do in life without spending hours fixing RCs every time they get used. So RC manufacturers, why is my 6 year old Vorza is still running tougher and better made than any Arrmas or Traxxas?? My Mugen whups them all! The Arrma Swiss cheese chassis are way too weak (too thin and v poor quality al) and plastics inconsistent. The E Revo (my ultimate shelf queen) sheds rod ends like confetti, or breaks something different every time! The Slash snaps metal stub axles, but is otherwise pretty strong. Those Traxxas clipless body shells are junk - always coming off or pulling the shell apart. So Arrma and Traxxas - step it up! Durability durability durability!!! I want a bomber V5 Kraton, but not buying the current one and dropping £500 making it useable. Wouldn't touch the E Revo 2.

My all time favourite car would be my Thunder Tiger TS-4n, there's not much left of the original, mostly now aluminium. And because it's a track car it's mostly aluminium except for the suspension parts and wheel hubs. But I've got a few projects on the go. TR-X4 post apocalyptic ambulance, HPI Savage (ish) 4x4x4, HPI Wheelie king 4x4x4 and an Axial wraith. Can't wait to finish them.

Slash 2wd vs Senton 6s. Senton for sure, mainly because it's 4wd and faster in the grass. However, I am not running a stock motor and esc in my Slash (Reedy 3300kv motor) and the motor is two years old. It's also my racing truck for both indoor and outdoor tracks. That's what I modified it for. Now that being said, I would like to try racing the Senton in the 8th scale class since it is an 8th scale buggy with a short course body.

Hey kev, thanks for the long time rc videos. I wouldn't be in rc if it wasnt for you. I recently switched to arrma from my traxxas xmaxx and e revo. I will admit the xmaxx is much more durable then the arrma kraton stock but 1 thing i think you should have considered in your review was pure drivability. While the xmaxx drives nice I grew board with it because of its size being so large I couldn't do as much stunts and stuff. I think the kraton is hands down one of the best handling and pure drivable rc I have driven and I have had an xmaxx 3 Revos a traxxas summit and a new rustler vxl 4x4. I think the kraton defenitly drives so much better. I do agree most of those problems you mentioned with the kraton I have dealt with as well but I definitely think you gotta consider the drivability of these rc. Even as a basher handling can change a driving experience.

I have the 4x4 rustler too and had the same problem with the drive shafts breaking I installed the tekno m6 drive shafts on it and it's been fine since they well pop out of the cups but I prefer that over breaking and they're about a third of the price of the mips and the traxxas upgrades

Kev, on the X-Maxx to keep the body from flexing, when you really airing it out, could you not install some small steel rods on the bottom of the chassis to help stiffen it and keep it from flexing?

Honestly as far as the rustler goes. I would recommend the tekno axles and the Traxxas gtr shocks are worth the money

Trx4 servo horn dosent hold for regular crawling, i was crawling only a few times when it breake, changed to alloy no problem since 👍

I did some huge jumps with my arrma talion and it was stock. Didnt break anything. I guess people just drive/bash differently.

@THE NPC i jumped 50 feet and landed on top of an old hot water heater 3 times and didnt break anything. So it was preeltty huge.

@THE NPC im not lying, or exaggerating, it all really happened, and nothing broke. I believe they can break as i have seen it happen irl. And im not an arrma fanboy, I've got traxxas, axial, arrma, tamiya and all other sorts of brands of rc's.

kev i think the reason your breaking your upgraded traxxas drive shafts on your slash is because of the RPM arms flexing and causing the shafts to snap

i have learned thru the years that if someone puts down another it is because they had bad times and jealous of others cause the have something or done something better than they have......all i can say is if something isn't the way you/they like just use it as a learning curve to make it the way you want......as long as you are or had fun THEN YOU DID THE BEST YOU CAN AND KEEP IT UP....IN SHORT......YOU NEVER CAN GO WRONG IF YOUR HAVING FUN EVEN IF IT IS VERY SMALL.....FUN IS JUST FUN

I was thinking of getting the arrma outcast especially after you said that it's pretty strong. Do you have the 1/8 or the 1/10?

both, 110 is strong, 18 is ok but could do with a lot of upgrades

Just buy an MT410 at the end of the day you will have more money in an Outcast than the Tekno.
