It’s so nice to be taken for a walk around the village again where we spent our 50th wedding anniversary in March with the family. We stayed in one of those beautiful Daylesford cottages opposite the Wild Rabbit and I did that circular walk in the morning with our dog. I was fortunate to have grown up in the Cotswolds and it will always be in my heart. The most beautiful of places.

I absolutely loved taking this virtual walk through Kingham village in the beautiful Cotswolds! The elegant stone and thatch cottages dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries create such a picturesque and charming atmosphere. It's fascinating to learn about the village's rich history, dating all the way back to the Domesday Book of 1086. The fact that Kingham has a main line railway station to London adds a unique touch, making it even more accessible and convenient for visitors. No wonder it was voted "England's Favourite Village" by the readers of Country Life magazine in 2006! Thank you for sharing this delightful glimpse into Kingham and its nearby attractions like the Churchill and Sarsden Heritage Centre and Daylesford Organic. It's truly a place that captures the essence of the Cotswolds.

I guess the day that Britains favourite village judging panel paid a visit all those horrible disgusting looking wheelie bins weren’t in full view, such a shame, everywhere you go these days, urban or rural they are a blight on the landscape, where I live in the inner city you expect them somewhat but surely efforts should be made by those responsible to try and keep them out of the public gaze in such a pretty and picturesque village, and Kevin I’m assuming you aren’t editing much at post but simply taking the card out of the camera and loading to KZbin where really things like wheelie bins should whenever possible be edited out, having said that I have watched most of your videos and they are so relaxing, thank you

Your walks always have a calming effect on me. I love the historical buildings intermingled with nature. I'm curious as to why the stones are placed on end at the top of the fences? Was it strictly aesthetic or did it have a particular purpose?

Another great video Kevin, Thank you. It has often made me wonder when going through these older villages, why most of the cottages all have the same coloured doors and window frames, could it be they are owned by the National Trust, or similar and that is the only option allowed?
@KevinTheCountryman Жыл бұрын
Good question! Some buildings are listed and fall into either a grade I or grade II category. Listed buildings are protected, so to replace timber windows or doors on a listed building permission is required from the local authority. They make every effort to protect the characteristics of the buildings. During research, I read there are 48 listed buildings in this village, which is a lot.
