These videos are great because they help with making the car scene more inclusive. Everyone online gatekeeps so hard in every car community and it’s so refreshing to see someone teach the basics, especially on an entry level enthusiast car. Great work, Kevin!

What I love about the Quick Jacks is not only is it easy to use but it came with the pinch pads making it so easy to use and lift the car up 100% of the time harmlessly. I love it.

A note about the scissor jacks, the BRZ comes with them from the factory, along with a tire iron. But the GR86 does not. If you want one for your GR86, you can buy the Subaru one.

I really needed to see exactly where the "Pinch Welds" are so I can figure out where exactly to align my jack stands. Now I have go hunting for that information after wasting time on this video. it was great but you totally skipped where the heck the pinch welds are exactly at.

Amazing video as always! As you mentioned here, no spare in the new brz/gr86 is an issue especially for those daily driving. I know there are forums, videos regarding how to Assemble a spare with Toyota/Subaru parts but would be great to cover everything including which car comes with what included such as the scissors jack/handle, foam inserts etc. Maybe you can also cover the spare for PP cars and non-PP cars. Just thought it would be a great Tuesday video. Thanks

Just a kick follow up on the Jack protector for the car, If you live in a country or state or provinces with a lot of cold and snow in the winter you cat use a Hockey Puck to put on your Jack to protect the car they are cheap and made of rubber I used them for year to do my tire changes and rotation, they are cheap and easy to get if you have outdoors ice sakting rink in the winter you can easily find them outside in the snow of people who lost them. If you have indoor Ice skating arena the employees gather the lost puck every evening and keep them in there office so if kids or people lost theirs or need one they can offer them. Generaly employees have a lot of those in reserve ahaha. I work for a city and there is and indoor ice skating rink so I get mine there if not go in any good sports store and you should find them easily for cheap!

Hey Kevin, what are your thoughts on lifting between the pinch welds along the side in the middle of the car? Sometimes it’s hard to place the stand under the pinch weld with a larger lift jack. (On some cars)
@victordebellis14527 ай бұрын
This. Can't lift by the pinch weld AND get a jack stand into the same point at the same time.
@KevinVo7 ай бұрын
Tbh, I usually jack just behind the front point to give enough room to put the jack in place. Either that or use the front and rear jack points instead.

Great video. Please don’t add anything to your jack stands. Matter of fact put your spare wheels under the car just in case the jack stand fails while you are underneath the car. If you have multiple jack stands, use them.

Few months ago I got the jack handle stuck in the upright position. Long story short never go under the car to adjust the screw to manually lower the jack. Almost ended bad. Also cost me pretty penny replacing my main seal because of that. Be safe

I just recently got a gr 86 and have an inquiry so the back license plate should install on the back bumper but there were no holes and just dimples still waiting on the plate but is it safe to drill the hole for the plate or do i need to get a mount
@droctogonapus81627 ай бұрын
You will have to drill those holes unfortunately. You can use self tapping screws they sell for your plates at AutoZone or wherever you shop, but I prefer drilled my holes and secured my plates with small bolts very carefully. I’m about to swap to some some toggle anchors on my rear plates just like I have for my front plate adapter

Hey Kevin. Can you show us/me next time were to put the jackstands under the car, those lift points are so small that the jack uses up all the space there.
@SamAtman77 ай бұрын
If you lift the car by the front center point behind the radiator & rear diff, you will place the 4 jack stands on the scissor jack points on the pinch welds shown at 3:56. I can say from experience if you jack up there on the scissor jack points and place a stand ahead or behind of those points, you will eventually deform/crush the pinch welds. Those points always have some weird cut outs that identify them from the rest of the pinch weld.

@KevinVo7 ай бұрын
The wrx jack points are the same except for the front. It's a bit further back on the cross member. If you take a look under the car you will see the hump on there.
