Good video Kev. I remember Mike Meyers saying when you interviewed him, "don't put yourself on an island" there is so much people willing to help in the IT community

@@KevtechITSupportI have to go back and take my A+ exam. I haven't done my resume yet but I went through school and got the fundamentals. I'm feeling like I don't have enough experience but I always hear that they will help train you for help desk as well. It would be a great way into tech

Good video Kevin. So glad you mentioned about introducing yourself on LinkedIn. I went into the IT field after many years in the healthcare and business industry. I learned so many things when I worked as a Service Analyst 1. Not seeing too many women in the IT field, motivated me even more. Keep up the great work!

Glad you mentioned the point about adding a note. I'm transitioning out of a successful long-term career and am getting a bunch of requests from CourseCareers adding me without saying a word. It kinda weirds me out a little to be exposing my old reliable network to strangers who can't intro. I felt like I had to accept in order to create a tech network but like you say, no one owes anyone anything. I need to take that to heart. Nonetheless, I do read the profiles, acknowledge that and say hello to those who add me whether they like it or not. It just feels right.

I have been in IT for 9 months now, did inhouse IT for 3 months then switched over to an msp where I am currently. I really enjoy the technical work , but I do not enjoy dealing with people. Trying to figure out what I should do.

@@KevtechITSupport I’m agree with you. Most techs does not people and just want to the work. It would be a good skill to get.

This was awesome like always!!! 😊😊😊 everything he said was true very true. Also I like to add there nothing wrong learning new things, don’t be afraid to ask questions . Example , alot of small businesses don’t like calling their software tech support because they don’t understand, so I do it for them. When I get on the phone with them , I ask questions like “ what type of database is this?”, “ what happens if the file is locked?”, “ what type of permissions do I need to make this type of changes?” “ What can of trouble shooting steps I can do before calling (you) tech support for help?” With these type of questions you start to learn the software and next thing you know they will be calling for the answers!!! My point is never be afraid to ask questions and sometimes insert your self so you can shine. I hope everyone have a nice day today. Until next time.

Any advice for someone stuck in line 1 looking to move up to senior? Just get more certs or is there other ways to get further in the career as my current role doesn't pay a lot... certainly not for self funded education

I like your videos but again not the only time I just hear things like mentioning finding groups which is good but Latino, black etc he never says white pepper lol isn’t that discrimination 😂 we gotta include white people too obviously they started this country or we are no better it’s still discrimination. Just let run you know so you don’t end up contradicting yourself
@KevtechITSupport

Any group is fine but minorities is underrepresented. There's not a lot of African Americans/Latinos in tech. We also get mistreated for looking different. I'm not contradicting myself. Indians were in the US before anyone else.

@@KevtechITSupport you do realize when starting a country they started it? That’s how war goes but you don’t talk about that lol. They started the United States of America after winning it over in "war" no diversity is good but we don’t get looked down. Racism exists so long as you speak about it. I can’t think of anything I can’t do that a white person can? 🤔 at some point we got quit with this poor me mentality is weak and doesn’t have a good look. We are all Americans start seeing it like that rather than separation unity. Because that’s the downfall. Like I said not mentioning a group doesn’t exactly say something but the way it was represented has all the meaning and intent behind your words. We are no better to discriminate against white people because racism has no color… I say this because it really frustrated me… when people have that mentality it makes me feel bad like I need help like I can’t take care watch out for me but from what it’s a free country I can do anything and everything I need to do without a problem just like some African Americans have hate for white people and vice versa.
