The Rocca has to be one of my favorite of your razor collection. The handle is so unique, functional, and highly efficient. You also reminded me to dig out my Maca Root cream. I had all but forgot about it until today. The blade was smooth, yet offered an edge that was controllable. All in all, a relaxing, comfortable shave. I await your next episode. Cheers!

At last the QUEEN is back!!! How long I have been waiting for her return!!! My most expensive safety razor and my favorite. I never understood why she's so underrated in the wet shaving world and doesn't get enough air time. I'm currently using it with the G7oc yellow.
@davesheppard87972 жыл бұрын
Hi Kostas, I own the Rocca, all stainless and I'm not particularly impressed with it. It doesn't rinse that well unless you run it under a tap and I can't find anything really special about it. Having said that, I haven't used it for a long time....probably because it never impressed me. Maybe I should give it another try. I have a Karve, a 6S, a Blackbird, a Masamune & Nodachi, 5 Razorocks, a Rex Envoy, 2 3one6's, an AS-D2 and 2 Outlaws, standard and mild. Plus a few others. I tend to rotate these and leave out the Rocca. Why do you think it is so special? Maybe I should try a 7 'o clock yellow in it? I would really be interested in your views on it. Best wishes, Dave.

@@davesheppard8797 Hi Dave and thanks for your comment. I don't have the other razors you mentioned to compare her with so I couldn't give an accurate review on this matter. But I will tell you about my experience with the muhle Rocca on my facial hair and as you understand my opinion is very subjective, what's good in my face doesn't mean will be good in yours and vice versa. I have also the all stainless steel silver version, it was one of my first de razors I've purchased and done more than 200 shaves with around 10 different blades. Something important to mention is because I am a daily shaver I do one pass with the grain and touch ups around my moustache-goatee area. So I never used her AGT to comment she behaves while shaving against the grain. Even Muhle in the instruction doesn't recommend AGT usage. But I tell you with one pass I get a deep shave by using an open angle of attack and this is when you are gonna listen her singing to you. This is the razor I use to assess blades, most I've used so far did brilliantly apart from the treet platinum, I didn't like this blade even when I used it with my EJde89. YMMV as they say, give it another try but with your heavy artillery in your arsenal I understand why you've put her aside. It's the same with Stirling, every one was raving about them until other artisans came with their fancy formulas and then nobody was talking about Stirling. By the way the latter is my favorite soap of all times, I own 30 and love them all. Thanks for your comment and question wish you love the Rocca again...

@@kostasintzes9958 Many thanks kostas!! You are completely right in saying what you said....everyone's skin is different and reacts differently to razors. Being a fairly aggressive razor I would imagine it would be great for a one pass shave daily. I do 3 passes per shave and I shave about 3 times a week. If I shaved daily I would have to rethink everything. Next shave I will use my Rocca with a 7 o' clock yellow blade and report back to you. I am very pleased though that you have found a razor you love and that works well for you. Best wishes, Dave.

Hi again Kostas, As promised, I shaved this evening with my all stainless Rocca razor. A 4th use Gillette 7 o' clock yellow blade, no preshave oil, Saponificio 70th Anniversary soap, lathered with an Executive shaving big jock brush. I finished with Nivea Men sensitive balm. A nice 3 pass shave, 1 pass of each and a couple of pick-ups. I had a really pleasant shave, almost BBS and with a 4th use blade too. The Razor was smooth and I was able to draw it down my cheek and over my sharp jawline and onto my neck in one stroke. Most razors I have nick me when I do this, as I go over the jawline. This was very comfortable and quite like my 6S which is another razor I can go over my jawline with! So Kostas, I will be using my Rocca a lot more from now on and trying numerous blades. Best wishes, Dave.

You make the lather about what I like and what I was showed by both my grandparents and father. They usually warmed up the face with a hot washcloth, put a small, very light application of lather on, then reapply the hot towel to the face for almost a minute. Then remove the towel and lather over top of the residual first. Most of the time, they had taken a shower at night and did the warming of the face with a thin/small application technique in the morning. One thing that you do that reminds me of something my father said when he was teaching me: "You know how if you try to mow after its rained and the mower bogs down? Well your razors the same way. Rinse that thing out! It looks like cotton candy on stick" 😂 My father is a hoot.

Great shave. Every time I lather a shaving cream from the tube or tub, I always lather it in a bowl to make things easier for myself and not make a mess on my hands before I apply the lather to my face. Don’t judge me for not using my hands to lather my cream. I prefer bowl lathering the cream, so I don’t care. Nice looking brush as well. Have a good one!

Not sure if you're asking how we handle this Macca Root soap/cream, but my current way of making and put on lather is to start the process IN A BOWL, but then use this for a face-lather. This has been a good method for at least half of year now.

Macca root is a great cream, even the new formula and the mild citrus style scent suits many shavers and readily available, I can pick it up from my local Body Shop. I quite like that Yaqi brush handle design. I do like the slot pins in razors, the blades are aligned with less play compared to round pins. Always better to have too much soap/lather than not enough IMO, like you said soap is relatively cheap and many of us hobbyist have large collections (I have 150+) to consume. Have a good one Kevy.👍🤠

The question about how much soap you use - I've done some checking on this. Most people would not care to measure it. About 1.2 to 1.5 ml. of the cream should do well for a face shave.

That's the same face-lathering technique I use with creams and even soft croaps. Why mess up a bowl? That cream you used made a fantastic lather. Amazon carries it and the price is right. $14.40USD for 200ml. My favorite cream is Geo F Trumpers (the light lemon scent one). I also like the new Nivea liquid shaving cream. That's the only one I will add directly to my brush because it is so thin. Two pumps and there's enough lather for 3 passes and pickups. Nice shave, Kevy!

@BartBuzz2 жыл бұрын
@@T-R.e.x The ingredients are typical of vegan-based soaps. I don't know if the hemp seed oil adds anything special. Seems like a gimmick to me? The soap does provide a nice thick lather if you use a brush. I also did a bowl lather and it lathers as well as any of my other soaps or creams. I really like how it can be applied directly to my brush for face lathering. And it doesn't take much. What also surprised me is that I only paid $3.47 at my local Walmart. That soap is a steal.

Hi! I have the Rocca too and I love it. I'm thinking buying a Rex Ambassador but I have some doubts. Evreybody says that Rex is a great shaver but it is agrresive. Maybe you can help me. In your oppinion judging by the fact that we both have the Rocca for a constant how much aggresive is the Ambassador. In other words can you find a nr seting on Rex that matches the Rocca? Can the Ambassador on the lowest setting be less agresive then the Rocca? Can the two be compared on how they feel on the face? Thank you very much!
@kevyshaves41092 жыл бұрын
I loved the look of the Rex Ambassador but it always felt like it was going to bite, even on the lower settings. I tried to get along with it using many different blades, but in the end it just didnt work for me so i sold it. It's a lot of money to try it and find its not for you, but in the other hand, you might like it. I've heard the Rrex Konsul is a lot more useable and doesnt feel as aggressive as the Ambassador. The Ambassador on 2 for me would feel similar to the Rocca, but for me, the Rocca is a lot smoother. I actually prefereed the Pearl Flexi over the Ambassador. Cheers. Kevy 🙂
