thanks for this content. during my childhood, I had a comforter with what appeared to be hand painted flowers and I always wondered what they were. I think it is very possible they were magnolias. I did a little bit of googling and it turns out that the magnolia is the national flower of the country where I was born. also they have some ancient magnolia trees that are still alive there... that is a kind of interesting bit of botanical history

I so love Kew and visit whenever I am in London. My favourite place is the rock garden, with all those tiny and diverse plants being cared for in their micro-climates. Little miracles being protected by brilliant, dedicated staff like Charles. It is truly a national treasure that we Brits can justly be proud of, and one that welcomes visitors from all over the world to a place of peace and natural wonder open to anyone.
