Agree humble, wise and lyrically gifted. He chose to stay underground but could of easily make it in the mainstream like these other so call rappers.

Ali is one of the most original and best mc's out now. so underrated and his songs are so pure, thought provoking and full of life. Been crazy just to see him evolve, its inspiring as a human being. Thanks Brother. About 10 years ago I went to see an Atmosphere show and a young Ali was there. I was semi familiar at the time, but his performance was mesmerizing. He's better live than many of his peers for sure. So much soul.

I was just about to post about seeing him with rhythm roots All Stars in Baltimore. Then he brings it up in the interview. Probally the best show I have ever seen. Hes the most slept on MC of all time. One of my favorite Artists ever. Brother Ali and Vinnie Paz. The live brass band sounded amazing live in a small club with good sound system. I wish had a copy of it with good sound. Absolutely amazing artist hands down. Been one of favorite since before "Room with a View" and "Dorian" one of my favorite tracks of all time. Expecially if u can relate to the situation. I wish he would have done the original version of Dorian though.

@vicgarrison89689 жыл бұрын
Prob cause he's referring to most BS out there. You have to find Hip Hop, it aint on the radio.
@5and88M4n9 жыл бұрын
Vic Garrison That's what I always think when people tell me that. I respect all music, so when people tell me they "hate" hip hop I think "well that's because all you know is Lil Wayne" or whoever's on the radio now. I don't understand what it means to HATE music, like are you out of your mind? Do you know what music is? Still, there are others in the middle who think hip hop's "ok" because of some of the shit they hear on the radio, then I show them a video of a big DJ scratching over a dope sample and blow their minds.
@mscottveach9 жыл бұрын
Ethereal Sandman see now, you say you respect all music and dis wayne in the same damn sentence. wayne's a genius. his music may not be to your taste but there's a kind of unbridled, free association wordplay to his lyrics that a lot of people write off as nonsense. but i think of wayne as hip hop's version of a beat poet. if his lyrics are nonsense then so is ginsberg's poetry. so is cummings.
@5and88M4n9 жыл бұрын
No no no you misunderstand, I was just using Lil Wayne as probably the most well known example of hip hop on the radio today (I think). Like KRS-One said, hip hop as a culture is doing phenomenally, and that includes Lil Wayne. However, the "mainstream" as it's referred to has completely broken away from the grass roots and all you hear on hip hop radio now is about partying with a lot of money, and that also includes Lil Wayne. But perhaps I misstated, I respect all GENRES of music- not all the artists and their decisions.
@Feelin2nice9 жыл бұрын
***** I agree with you M. Scott. I'm not a big Lil' Wayne fan, mostly because I know he "could" use his influence and power as an artist to uplift people versus what he raps about, but I do admire his word play and his lyrical ability. He has skills, there is no denying that. If he had a little bit more Talib Kwalib in him, a bit more 2Pac circa 1992 or a bit more Pharaoh Monche maybe he wouldn't be as popular, but his music would be a bit more spiritual and uplifting in nature. I'm not hating on him, just giving my honest expression of how he could do more to help his people than hurt his people. I can only imagine how many drive by shootings or murders have occurred with people playing his music as a motivating factor for the acts that were about to unfold. I doubt many people were playing Brother Ali, Immortal Technique or Pharaoh as they were about to kill their so called "enemy". I may be wrong, but that's what I think. RIP to all my cousins who died at the hands of gang violence. Wish y'all were here to spread some knowledge to those who are lost in the storm.
