Philip Peeples with his unparalleled train beat on "Jesus Loves You," the second song in this here show. That's what has always made the old 97s run on time.

I discovered them by total accident back in 1997. Remember those ads in magazines for music clubs like Columbia House & BMG, where they'd be like "Get 10 C.D.'s For Only 1 Cent!"? I did one of those, but when I got to the 10th pick I couldn't find anything else I liked. I saw their name, and since it was 1997 I thought might as well 🤷🏽♂️ "Too Far To Care" ended up being one of my favorite albums to this day!

His solo album "I Don't Know Where I'm Going But I'm On My Way" is my current favorite album to listen to at work! I was also stunned to learn that he was married to famous cartoon voice actress, Grey DeLisle-Griffin! They still do musical collaborations!

Great songs off a really good album. They need a better mic on the crowd at the new studio; you can tell they're applauding but can't hear it, which makes it look like the band is flat.

Listen to the Album "Too Far to Care". It sorta, to me, is the quintessence of this band. Salome is one of my favorite songs ever by any band. Niteclub is a good representation of their rocking shit. ALl points in between are pretty well represented on that album and it's just an all around amazing record and helps makes the twenty years that followed make more sense.

Too Far to Care, Satellite Rides, can't go wrong with either. Great albums. Pick up the live album Alive and Wired for a good taste as well.

My favorites are their early releases before signing to a major label. "Hitchhike to Rhome" and "Wreck Your Life" - very much more an alt country flavor. But all the albums mentioned here are good.

Bad luck charms the best song. Not their best album, but these were the more decent songs on it.
