What happened?
@sdp-ui2lw5 жыл бұрын
@@user-wu8sj3ee3d They used a Go Fund Me type organization called Pledge Music where fans pledged actual money to help the band make Future Ruins. PledgeMusic was supposed to facilitate the transfer of the funds. They have now declared bankruptcy and can't fully pay Swervedriver all the contributions from the fans. They have also screwed many other artists. I believe their is now a lawsuit pending. I myself pledged to receive a signed CD from the band and they weren't able to provide me with that. Not the bands fault.
@HadrianRex5 жыл бұрын
Ladytron got screwed too. I did the digital download on both pledges, so I got those on time. I bought the signed CD for Swervedriver's Future Ruins, and I did get it eventually.

You’re right about the bagpipes type droning but it’s closer to a sitar to my ear, or two master senseis so perfectly intertwining their sitar mantras and the bass and drums are the majestic, psychedelic mountain they sit on. (sorry I’m swervestoned, MY phrase I evented NOW)

For a Day Like Tomorrow was everything that the music on Future Ruins wasn't...bright and tuneful and energetic. I wanted so much to enjoy Ruins. Even had in for a guitar (via their Pledge Music account) that was used during the sessions (but bailed when Pledge's issues with delivering what you paid for became a losing proposition.) But it was just sludgy and anodyne for the most part. If they ever make another record together I hope it's closer to the spirit of I Wasn't Born and less of the Ruins which the bland gray cover art strongly hinted the contents would be.

Seeing these old farts playing live here on KEXP now ruins the magic a bit, in my imagination they were way more cool looking. Btw: i recall two similar sounding bands from the same era that i haven’t heard of ever since: Truly and Mystery machine. Anyone know them? Worth listening to!

Hi, thanks for watching. We work with a very small team to produce a very large number of sessions each year. In fact, we're usually uploading about 5 per week, sometimes more more! And it's the same small crew filming and editing all of these great performances, so, while we understand your being anxious to hear a session we recorded, we hope you'll be patient with us as we work through ALL of the great sessions to deliver them to you in the highest quality we can manage. Also, did you know that KEXP is a non-profit, listener powered station that relies on donor support? We hope that you and everyone else who enjoys these sessions will consider helping us make these video and keep KEXP going strong. You can support us here: www.kexp.org/donate
