She has explained in interviews that it's just the concept of something bigger than us, some overarching presence - 'the biggest thing she can think of' - whereby, I think the deconstruction of which allows us to feel more connected to one another with less obstacles to traverse in our everyday lives.

For any newbies to Grace, testament to her that she can knock a KEXP session out the park without playing the strongest songs on her new album! Check out 'Everybody's Somebody ' 'Common Man' and 'On and On'. Not to mention the highlights of her previous albums, 'The Look You Gave' and 'Other Side'. 💗 Genius.

they've given all of her records like high 6's and 7's? i mean, reviews are definitely subjective off the rip, but they're not saying anything negative? do you have beef with it because you find it condescending that someone would listen to this and feel like it's not really that interesting?
@markevenhuis61824 ай бұрын
@@amduck I quote: "But you know that friend who you love seeing for an hour every once in a while, who shares everything new about their life in an exhilarating but exhausting torrent? That could be Ramona after repeated spins, when Cummings’ lack of restraint, combined with the band’s hidebound insistence on repeating sounds that are often 60 years old, becomes too taxing to take for very long." This just reeks of an unwitting misogynist who becomes deeply uncomfortable whenever a woman fiercely expresses themselves. "Lack of restraint. WTAF.
@amduck4 ай бұрын
@@markevenhuis6182 i think it's less about gender and more about not every single on an album should hit as hard as the first minute of the great gig in the sky. and i do see your point, but the tagline of the review is "Over these soul ballads and torch songs, she holds nothing back-for better or worse." i still think society should do better about the way we dismiss things, because it does start to look a whole lot like loading language against women, and that sucks. but idk, i think here it's just a run of the mill music critic not liking the vocals. intensity and honesty is an important factor in creativity, but it doesn't really factor into whether someone has to engage with the art.

One of the best KEXP sessions I've seen in a while. The dynamics in these songs is moving. From what's almost a mournful and whimpering whisper and a shallow note from the piano to a raucous bellow of a scream surrounded by fuzzed up guitar and a heavy rhythm section. The theatre aspect of "Ramona" live is also next level and well executed. Grace is an incredible artist, now with three albums under her belt, and I don't believe I'm alone in saying I'm excited for the next output from her. Greetings from FNQ.

You can even catch a view of them, behind the lights, making sure he’s reading it as written. He hosted Amen Dunes alright, my other fav band, but this was unacceptable behavior kexp. You would never see Cheryl mumbling through a written script like that in front of an all star band.
