Why am I just now finding this in 2024? Been listening to the album for a long time but never knew there was a live recording!
@bsadewitz3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I just found this right now, and I bought this album when it came out. It is one of the few CDs I ever bought after I started getting most of my music from the Internet around 1997 or so. I didn't know about it because I wasn't putting in the effort to follow him--not that I have ever been good at following any artist. His stuff has limited "mainstream" appeal, I think, although "Positive Contact" was used in at least one television commercial IIRC, so perhaps that broke through. In the hidden track on his first album, he says: "Del made a pact to be well natural Back from the wishing well to sell actual Funk from the fungus grown in the trench It's getting kinda heavy so I gotta pinch an inch And it's a sinch To let my hair grow like a plant Eliminate the fat gold chains and the diaper pants Trade 'em for a pair Girbauds Never make friends with the fraudulent foes" I believe he honored that pact all these years, and, in part, that is why we are only hearing this now.

@whyjnot420 Жыл бұрын
As much as I love this, I would argue that his work as Deltron for those albums is pretty good for concept work. Concept albums as a whole are very much becoming a lost art and I love a good concept album. So this is no faint praise from me. Yet when it comes to being an opera even stuff like Avantasia cannot claim to truly be one and that project is a hundred times more ambitious than the Deltron 3030 albums (and even presents itself as a heavy metal opera, at least originally in the first 2 albums). Note than in an opera there is a complete story within the music. The Deltron stuff feels more like two anthologies from the same setting. btw Avantasia's failing is that you need to read the liner notes to get the whole story. Thus not a complete story contained within the music. addendum: Don't get me wrong, Avantasia is utterly amazing. ffs they had more singers on one song than most ska bands have members.

Is it recorded though? Some of the intro obviously is, and there are other elements too, but most o it seems to be live. Nothing wrong with having prerecorded elements either, it increases versatility and creativity in composition (there are some things that just can't be played live).
@SongBillong2 жыл бұрын
@@awesomeferret I don't think Lowercase G was implying that any of this wasn't performed live; he was simply saying that this (a live performance recorded to be put onto KZbin) is the closest thing he can get to physically witnessing a live performance of Deltron 3030. 🙂

3030 is one of my all time favourite rap songs. Props to them for using William Shellers Introit from Lux Aeterna and spicin' it up. Such an epic combo of lyrics and beats.

I saw Del and Hiero live when I was 18 (1995). They were scheduled to go on at 7 and they went on after midnight with no opening act. Still the best show I've been to.

Respect for using real instruments and not just 2 turntables. The brass section on POINT!!! It let the music "breathe"

This is awesome. One of the best concerts I've ever seen was Deltron3030 in Brooklyn in 2014. I'm more of a hardcore and metal fan, but there is something about Del, Dan and Kid Koala together that just make art. I also love Kid Koala's stuff with Dynomite D where they sampled Bollywood songs.
