While I do definitely respect your ability to remain open to all perspectives, and I completely agree that there are very solid merits to certain arguments on both sides of the spectrum, I disagree with the statement that that means both are the same and remaining in the center is the correct response. The Republican Party and the Democratic Party are different things than just Liberal and Conservative viewpoints, and to say that they are different sides of the same coin is wrong. One party supports and encourages sedition, nationalism, and domestic terrorism, the other party does not. That alone makes them unequal, and shows what kind of damage can be done by continuing to frame the conversation as one of simply “opposing viewpoints.”

I've always felt like political rallies and party conferences were pretty silly. No matter which side we're talking, it's pretty much just a huge echo chamber...and the degree to which it is people learning something, it has more to do with getting people to join the echo chamber than it does any attempt for everyone to broaden their view. I'm not a fan of the two-party system because it's trained people to this in terms of us-vs-them - we've fed that beast and it's only gotten worse.

It just might happen, not by just republicans but our government as a whole, we are seeing alot of segregation being brought back. Before it was "white only" now it's "black only". The word play is different but it achieved the same result. Now you are seeing " black only graduations", "black only dormatories", " black only study centers". There's teachers that are breaking up their classrooms with black students in one area and white students in another area. If Martin Luther King was alive today he would cry
I'll just say that I have a black aunt and my best friend is black. They vote republican. And yet when other black people find out, they say its impossible to be black and republican. They then point out my aunt and friend are racist against "their own kind" then. >.> I don't care what someones views are, but that's a pretty extreme statement to make.

So...would prefer he answered.
@drew3030 Жыл бұрын
@@anthonycurby4606 As @SurpoZ said, it's fairly obvious. Let's see Anthony. Republicans implemented a corporate tax cut, reducing the tax's of the richest from 37% to 21% and significantly reducing government revenue, thereby significantly reducing the ability to redress market failures that impact the most vulnerable. They were even just caught trying to do away with the IRS entirely and implement a flat 30% tax on consumer goods to replace income tax which would have further benefited the most wealthy and crippled the least. Republicans are the worst offenders over decades of gerrymandering. Only recently have Democrats managed to claw things back to a more level playing field by playing the same game. Republicans make it harder for low-income people to vote and put up hurdles at every opportunity, from legislating against mail-in voting to voter id's - that cost money. Republicans cheat, swindle, lie, double-speak and hate. It's not uncommon to see all these traits simultaneously in a Republican. Sometimes you might see some pop up in a Democrat, then they get booted. Republicans instead would double-down. In short, Republicans represent the 1% at the top of the food chain. Democratic policies and legislative action is more evenly balanced against most factors of demographic difference. You have to look no further than Republicans STILL trying to implement trickle down economics to see who they really care about!

With all due respect, it's not just a messaging issue. Voter ID laws target groups who are less likely to have a government issued ID, most of whom, demographically speaking, tend to lean Democratic. In Texas, concealed carry permits are allowed as ID, but not student ID cards. All by design.

I don't think you actually hate the the left and the right, in the political science sense. What is called "left" in America (and increasingly in every european country too) is not actually the left. The most important factor of a leftist worldview is to oppose hierarchies, the most important factor of a rightist worldview is to be for hierarchies. Democrats & woke people don't oppose hierarchies. They just wanna dress them up & ignore the line that's between up and down - financially well off & poor - proletariat & bourgeois.

I think the premise can also be that the "Black Republican" lacks substance, as they all said basically the same thing but didn't dive too deep. Also the idea they are trying to be white. Maybe I'm reading too into it. I think Republicans have some positive ideas its just, for me, those ideas are the minority of their platform. Both parties are pretty bad imo, past Republicans, like 1980s 90s, sure, I could see myself voting for some, but modern... I can't. Sadly the alternative is not good. Both seem to preach to the American people but they vote for the American corporation.

This ties in well to the SNL skit "The day Beyonce turned black" you just did. For some people there are two types of otherness: the otherness that doesn't really exist because I have decided to include them into my world and the otherness of choosing not to include them. The Beyonce skip was about how some white people integrate rich black people as one of their own. They aren't black anymore, so it fragments their worldview when something happens to break that illusion. If you're poor and black, though... that's what they mean by black! That was my interpretation anyway and I think this Key and Peele skit delivers a similar message. It really hits home when they all have white wives lol - there are no genuine black republicans, they're all puppets being pulled by white people who allow them into positions of power only to pull the strings. In this case it's their wives. Brings to mind Gini Thomas immediately but I'm not sure when this was actually made.
