"If Hogwarts were" is better usage than "If Hogwarts was". It's an instance of the subjunctive mode which is sadly often forgotten in English, where the indicative mode is generally always accepted as correct, or at least ok. However, hypotheticals are a common instance where the subjunctive should be used.

Don't mean to correct your English, but "were" actually is correct. When a statement is considered to be unsure or in doubt like here where it's preceded by an "if", it's considered subjunctive and therefore were should be used instead of was. Look it up. 😉👍
