@@docen67 Performance part is true, but for the vast majority of people it doesn't make sense letting 1000hz vs 8000hz be a deciding factor in a keyboard. What games are you playing where you're getting over 1000fps for this to make a difference to you anyway? Even if you manage to get over 1000fps, it still wont matter since the highest refresh rate monitor on the market currently is "only" 540hz... Build quality and looks are much more important imo. Also customization is way better on the Q1 HE! It uses QMK so the firmware is open source, you can make the keyboard behave exactly how you want it to. The more standard 75% layout also means that you will find a lot more options for third party cases compared to Wooting's decision to make the 80HE have a unique layout that only works with their own case.

Nope not even close. All QMK boards suffer from an issue where multiple key events are registered as one per scan cycle which automatically make them unsuitable for competitive use. One person worked on a PR to address it in 2021 then abandoned it. Until the issue is fixed even a cheap OEM keyboard can currently outperform a QMK board.

Why hall effect, and not proven dual-switch velocity sensing as seen in the music industry?
@dorstenkarl3878 Жыл бұрын
I think because these switches are developed for a different usecase. With hall effect switches you can measure the distance of the switch seamlessly which means you know exactly how far the key is pressed. It doesn't matter how fast the key is pressed. For the music industry it's the exact opposite.

A South-facing RGB is quite literally aimed right in your eyeball face hole. Whereas North facing RGB are not only more subtle, you can also use it with shine through keycaps. South-facing RGB shine through keycaps look like dog crap. When you have the North-facing shine through keycaps the keyboard looks damn good. wooting Q1 QMK. this what killed the market. that is the 4th clone of wooting keyboard.
@playeronthebeat Жыл бұрын
hm. How is it a clone if it's 75% and with battery/wireless function when the Wooting is just 60% plain wired? If it's purely based on HE switches/magnetic switches alone, then the Steelseries Apex Pro was even earlier (presentation in 2019). And what - in that regard - is not considered "a clone" when in fact, most of the parts cannot be really that different? How'd you design a standard keyboard with standard caps and RGB that differently to any other company? By that logic in mind: Isn't every keyboard a clone of another one's keyboard? I'd love to see the reason you're calling it a "wooting keyboard clone".
@jesperburns Жыл бұрын
@@playeronthebeat I don't agree that calling everyone that uses a (new) combination of existing features is a copycat "cloning" the competition. But I can find Wooting reviews from 2018.
@playeronthebeat Жыл бұрын
@@jesperburns However, probably not for HE variance and besides: What does that prove for a point if you can find reviews from back in 2018? Does that still make Keychron a copycat? Are other companies not allowed to create products that take similar concepts (like being open source, fully customizable etc)? With Wooting being as old as 2015, it's not really a surprise, to be honest. So, still I don't get why OP is calling Keychron a copycat and essentially calls the Q1 HE a "clone of [a] wooting keyboard", neither do I get your argument of when reviews were initially existent? With that logic, everything would be a copycat of the 2008 DK Saver (iirc).
