Not the generation. These are, in large part, a limited group of privileged young adults with easy lives who were above average in highschool but are now below average. Their new peer group is the best from many different places. They can't stand out academically anymore with the stronger competition, so they reach for something they believe will make them important. They find something that has a low entry, isn't going to attract competitors as most others will continue to focus on excelling at what they came to school for, and, perhaps most importantly, something that allows them to feel morally superior as a way of being able to convince themselves that they are doing something better than actually being productive and simply accepting that real life is hard and they have to really work if they want to excel. Causes like this attract the weaker of society. Even the few who might excel at other things choose to do things like this because they are still mentally weak and need this to give them something they can hold over the heads of their peers. To the point, if you have seen some other videos of students at various protests being interviewed, you should be able to quickly tell that, in general, they are not very bright considering they are university students, they are largely uninformed, and some just outright don't even know why they are at the protest (other than to boost their own ego and feel important). They are looking for an easy way to elevate themselves socially so they can feel important.

I’ve known about the sufferings of Palestinians long before any of this broke out. Also I happen to be a physically challenged person and protesting is often very harsh on my body so quite the contrary to what you claim I do not like having to protest. I am merely in pain or bedridden for a few days but I am alive and have access to healthcare. All amenities that Palestinians don’t have. I care more than enough for the suffering of the Palestinians. One day I hope we can use the momentum from these protests to raise awareness about the dozens of other conflicts that our governments are complicit in.
