I like the wood but if you house has plastic windows throughout then plastic it is

States need to be on half of the batten

That was an amateur mistake to make when u put on the second last slate. U nailed it very close to the waterline why not nail it through the top corner

Fair comment you are right that was too close and I didn't spot it at the time but there wasn't much bearing on the top. Ideally I would have pulled the batten gauge in slightly to give a better top fixing but that top corner nailing often cracks away anyway. To tell you the truth my preferred method would have been a dob of mastic under the slate.

Skill Builder Thank you for the reply I wasn't expecting one to be honest. Yes you are correct the slate can crack around the hole when nailing in the top corner, as you say a spot of mastic will cure that.
