Interview with Hollywood concept designer Daniel Simon at KeyShot World LA 2023

In this KeyShot World session, we sit down with designer Daniel Simon, who contributed iconic vehicle designs to blockbuster movies such as Top Gun Maverick, Oblivion, and Tron: Legacy. Furthermore, Daniel consulted for companies such as Bugatti, SpaceX, Roborace, and Singer Vehicle Design, and published two art books.
As an avid fan and user of 3D software for over 20 years, we touch on his general work flow, experiences in various jobs, differences between real world design and film concepts, the crux of legacy design, how tools dictate creativity, and differences between art and design. Daniel uses Keyshot.

I don't have many idols, but Daniel Simon is at the top of the list as far as Industrial Designers go. From real race cars to cinematic cars and jets...that may someday be real...how cool. The elegance, futurism, yet believability of his designs are a high bar for designs to strive towards, imho. Awesome guest, KeyShot!!

Really an awesome presentation. Some interesting thoughts as well about how current jobs get more and more specialized which isn't maybe the best thing, also not for people doing such jobs. Remembers me of early internet days. While I once did all now you've like 20 different jobs for one site. Getting specialized in something is nice but doing the same work for 40 years wouldn't be my perfect world. Also a nice comment about AI which basically does the same as a human brain, it's literally the same I commented a few weeks ago on someone who felt threatened by AI. Anyway, very inspiring!
