Because Suzanne always rides her horses behind the vertical most of the time as she did my mare when I had a lesson with her . it's too challenging to ride on or slightly in front of the vertical for most riders. There are otyer trainers who play "safe" and ride too far in front of it which hollows the back and makes it impossible for the horse to lift it's back to the maximum as can be seen by many riders following the new riding style developed by Phillipe Karl. I have even been told by a UK student of his that to "SQUEEZE " on the rein with the fingers (wHich PK recommends in his books) is a "nice way of pulling g backwards!!!). I think PK needs to check his students are teaching correctly if he wants to retain any lasting credibility!

Keith Bartlam it is too challenging because riders aren't taught the timing of the aids and the truly independant seat like the masters learned and taught. Riding a horse behind the vertical is not correct, and only serves to leverage the back up underneath the rider, giving the FEELING of "roundness" when it is not really there. It also does not allow the horse to seek the contact if it is constantly being held behind it.

And anyway Ramener Outre is only held there for a moment of 1 or 2 strides ONLY and only used to dominate a very difficult attitude or resistance. It's achieve with the hand fixed and the spur as in effect d'ensemble
