Thank you for being honest about the things in the rv that don't work like they say they are supposed to. That is why we told our dealer at the time take it back.

The changeover was done at JC. They drove down, spent the night on property, trailer was pulled in first thing in the morning, they were on their way home that afternoon.

Great video. Very informative. 👍🏻 Just an FYI for all who have this model year, is that the water overflow vent cap can be taken off and used as a gravity fill if you can’t find a pressurized hose.

Hi, Here is a little update to my previous comment as I just watched your 1 year review again! - Fridge. Long story short, we had a fridge fire in Birmingham, Alabama on our way home from our 5 month snowbird trip. I booked in with JC Refrigeration in Shipshewana and upgraded to a 12v residential fridge. WOW, what a great move. I love that the freezer now keeps ice cream frozen! - Water pump full upgrade. Now done and I agree 100% on the quieter operation. - So it is not just us that STILL cleans up sawdust in the pantry, lol. - We put on 17,000 km this winter and are still finding the odd screw on the floor when we arrive at are destination. Overall, really happy with the rig, especially the nearly 4,000 lbs of cargo capacity. Too many 5th wheels out there that have less than 2,000 lbs cargo capacity, which will create a litany of problems. Thanks again for your video's!

Hey Leonard thanks for watching , and taking the time to leave a comment. I Am so happy to hear your upgrade to you fridge has made a difference. We absolutely love ours. And the piece of mind I no longer have an open flame back there going down the road is priceless. As a retired fire fighter I know all to well how fast an Rv burn. As far as the saw dust we too are still sweeping it out of the pantry. I did find some open areas along the inside where the LED are that I think I will calk up soon. That may solve that problem once and for all. Safe travels

Good job on the video. We have a 3855br 2020, built before the shore line move. We have about 25,000 miles on our rig and have only had very little problems. We do have the residential refrigerator and we love it. I’ll have to check the shower for the gap. The microwave/ convection came lose had to reattach it. Thanks again.

This refrigerator can be greatly improved by adding additional exhaust fans to the top vents behind the fridge. These can be triggered by the existing fan thermostats or adding fan thermostats to the new fans. The fans are zip tied to the top vent. The existing vents do not move enough air and the trapped air behind the fridge get too warm and the fridge does not properly cool.

Just found your channel and glad to see someone else with a Montana. We have a 2019 3560RL and really love it. We have a home base in Alaska and are stuck this winter because of the Canadian border closure. My only issues have been the closet cloths rod, I added a vertical 1X4 and haven’t had any issue since. We also lost one section of crown molding that came off and got broken when we opened a slide. Unfortunately I have no support up here for getting parts, we purchased our rig in Tacoma WA. Good channel, glad we found it.

Great Video folks and thanks for taking the time to go over these issue's. We just got the 2020 Cougar 315 RLS and yet to use it. We are headed to FL in less then a month. but here are some issue's we have. On the awning the one strut nearest the entry door is the wrong size and in result of that the front awning will not extend all the way. The refrigerator must be not mounted down good because we can no longed open the door....(it hits the island). We have a appointment at General RV on Friday if the part comes in (we scheduled way back in November)...the shower wall panel's are coming separated from the wall and needs to be glued again. Glad we bought the extended warrenty plan...lol

Hi, I just watched your video and it was great! We also have a 2020 3120 RL and have had some of the same issues, and some different ones as well. - Our crown moulding above the fridge also fell down. We glued it and used longer nails with our nail gun. - Our freezer does not get cold enough either. Will definitely follow with a potential upgrade of the cooling unit as we like to have the option of propane when we are dry camping. - I did not know about the potential shower stall gap, so thanks for that one! I will check it asap. - The water pump noise is annoying, so will update as you have. - Ditto for the kitchen spout and washroom faucet. - We also had the bedroom closet door slides sag down as some of the upper rail screws were not in anything solid. I angled longer screws into solid wood. - We installed the 2 in 1 Splendide washer dryer combo as we did not want to lose the top storage space. I highly recommend it! Once we figured out the dry cycle, we are thrilled with it! - Great catch (pardon the pun) on the stairs! I am going to order one as we have the exact same problem. We have been pushing the stairs tight through the screen door, then closing the main door. - We had (have) a slightly leaking grey valve, which gave us a surprise the first time we went to dump our tanks! I have since put a Valterra waste valve on the end of our discharge pipe. This also enables us to flush the black tank with the grey water. - Some of our mods include a 3000 Watt inverter, Transfer Switch, Redarc DC to DC charger to eliminate the need for a generator. A Digital battery monitor, as the factory unit does not adequately or accurately monitor our 4 x 6V battery bank. Battery negative shut off switch which eliminates any parasitic battery drain, as the Montana battery switch does not. A Furrion back up camera, TPMS, Progressive Industries EMS to protect against surge and brown outs. It has already come in handy with a low voltage campground situation! My overall feeling is that this is a pretty well built unit, but if anyone wants to buy one, be prepared to fix items that come up just as they would in a Sticks & Bricks home. Thanks again for a great video, which gave me quite a few "Ahh Haa" moments. Stay well, and safe travels.

Thanks for the comments Leonard. If you haven't already be sure to check the video we did on the upgrade to our refrigerator. It has been one of if not the best thing we have done to our rig. I love that it runs solely on 12v and is very efficient and now we can actually buy ice cream. Ahh, the little pleasures. Also, keep an eye out for an upcoming video. We just got back from spending 3 days at Keystone so we will have some updates as to changes Montana has made and a tour of the factory with Sam, Montana's product manager.

We have a 2021 3121RL Legacy. We had a scratch on the TV (from the delivery trip), and our dealer replaced and upgraded the TV to a smart TV for us. Our unit came with a residential fridge and to our luck, it was a GE rather than a Samsung! Our fridge is perfect, freezes water in no time. Our shower also had that gap and like you, I ran a bead of caulk along the top edge of the shower.I did change out the shower head to a better quality one. I have repaired some molding that came loose. It seems the factory air gun was too powerful and it blew the brads right through the moulding. I reinstalled them with glue and longer nails rather than brads and that fixed the problem. We also replaced the factory mattress to a 10" memory foam style. I did add composting toilet and we have never used the black tank for waste. I put a knife valve in and now we have a spare gray tank! I also replaced the steps with Torklift Steps, which adds two steps to get into the rig with. (We have small dogs that had difficulty navigating the stairs)! All in all a great unit!

I just sold my Grand Design Solitude 369RL and have been looking at this one or a class A. The one complaint I have with the awning on this rig and my Solitude is that it doesn't cover the door completely, I got drenched many times, and so did the stairs which it is a safety issue. I wish it would cover the entry door better. Excellent review btw. Thank you.

With respect, all of your concerns are valid, however they are expected. The minor build issues are normal at that price point, manufacturers put money into some things and not others, they are the lowest priced junk they can buy. There aren’t a whole lot of RV 12v electronics to chose from, and as the main buyers are manufacturers who want to only buy cheap shit that’s what you get. The fridge, stove/oven, TV, stereo, DVD issues, everything you must consider replacement options. Cougars pluses are 0-110° temperature range, the placement of valves up into heated areas and not underneath exposed to the cold, and 2” walls. The issues you are experiencing mostly would have happened anyway even with a $150,000 coach, let alone a $45,000 coach like a Cougar. If you watch the videos of these and other technicians building them, I’m amazed they are as good as it gets. The installers are installing stuff at a breakneck pace, just as fast as they can, screws are skipped for time, and they use electric brad nailers like a maniac. After a few videos you see a trend, they slam out 20-30 units a day, the workers are so rushed, it’s amazing that they have as few issues as they do.
@Jonesin2Go
@Jonesin2Go 3 жыл бұрын
I Agree.. that is why we made this video and also mentioned in it that all manufactures have issues. These are rolling earthquakes. And as you said as fast as they are put together things get missed. All in all Montana has one of the best built units on the road imo. And we would buy one again and most likely will. I do however believe the dealers share the responsibility of making sure things are right. The dealers drop the ball more so then the manufacturers do. This Montana is our 9th RV and every dealership we have purchased from has missed or just neglected to find and fix something. Thanks for watching and taking time to leave a comment. Safe travels

@@Jonesin2Go - Afterthought... on that sink issue where the ball is getting stuck. Those balls are moveable, loosen a few screws, move the ball as far down as you can, and it will resolve that issue and if it’s like ours will suddenly reach from the sink to the stove with ease, LOL!

Thanks for watching. Fortunately we have not had any issues with the slides scraping the floor. Makes me wonder why people are having trouble with that because I've heard numerous people have. Well that is a good question. We purchased our Montana with the RV fridge because of the amount of time we spend on the road. We have had many issues with it. We will be taking it into a refrigeration company in April to have it converted to a 12v compressor system. We will be doing a complete video of that process and explaining why we are doing it so watch for that video in late April. I will say the RV refrigerator, at least the Norcold 2118, uses an obscene amount of energy to run.

Put silicon or some epoxy in the screw hole and put the screw back in tape the trim to the structure and over the stripped screw for a while until it dries. That way your not making extra holes. If epoxy leaks out you out wipe it up immediately with a Lysol wipe or any cleaner wipe. Crazy that you spend that much on a trailer and the quality just doesn’t seem to be there.

On the Norcold refrigerator, IMHO. Keystone specs the components for their 5th wheels. While Norcold manufactures the fridge because Keystone specs them for the build, it is something to hold Keystone to account. Too many are giving the RV industry a pass on poor quality because "they only assemble" the RV. Well our automotive industry only assembles as well and none of us would give that industry a pass on the poor quality of parts used.

Nice Unit, wife and I are looking into one ourselves. Waiting on the Boston Camping show Jan 2022. On the tires I have not had much information on them as most were saying to go with Goodyear. I heard that the tires on your rig are also made in China, I am not sure if its true or not. Excellent video thanks for t sharing. Merry Christmas....

Thanks for watching Paul. Montana comes with better quality tires. They're Sailun brand that are G rated and come with 8 year warranty. Very good tires. If you are seriously considering a Montana, take the time to watch our 3 part videos of the factory tour. They're long videos but packed with tons of good information. Also, we will be releasing a new video very soon comparing the Montana Luxury and the Montana High Country so tap the bell to be notified of that. Feel free to send us any future questions you may have. Merry Christmas!

Very informative video. We are considering a 3120rl because we want the propane option for boondocking. Have you weighed your rig? I’m curious about the pin weight with the rig loaded. We have a 2018 F250 diesel and I know that It can’t handle the full gross weight of a 3120rl.

Thanks for watching Robert. We appreciate your support. Yes I have weighed it. The trailer axel weight was 11620. That was with my freshwater tank full. I still need to weigh my truck without the fifthwheel. I believe loaded we are somewhere close to 14000 total weight. I would be happy to share a pic of my weigh slip I just cant attach it here.

I noticed you purchased a Thule T2 Pro XT to bike rack for your electric bikes. I too am looking to hang electric bikes on the receiver hitch. I noticed that it along with every other bike rack I can find says , not for electric bikes! I’m assuming you have no problems with the heaviness of your bikes. How do you protect them from the weather do you have some kind of special covers?.
@Jonesin2Go

We purchased that bike rack two and a half years ago and haven't had any issues whatsoever. It holds our two e-bikes just fine. Together they weigh about 110 pounds. We do cover them with a bike cover we purchased from Amazon and it's holding up really well also. Below is a link for the cover. Great video, this is one of the rigs on our short list. Still deciding between a 5th wheel and Class A. One dumb question. Did you add extra stinky slinky storage tubes? Or do u use a tub? We have a small 29ft tt and I use a tub right now plus my extra is in the bumper. With only one pass thru I could see that somewhat being an issue. Thanks.
@Jonesin2Go
@Jonesin2Go 2 жыл бұрын
The montana comes with a tube installed on the frame by the outlet. I did extend mine about 6 inches so that it holds 2 sections. I am planning on adding a second tube as I have had to use 3 sections a few times. The 3120 is a great unit and as of 2022 they will all come with solar. We are going to be at Keystone in a couple weeks for an ambassadors rally and will try to get a video or 2 out on all of the new changes Montana is making. Thanks for watching.

We did have it repaired under warranty the first year. When it was still not performing properly, we just gave up on Norcold and went for the conversion. Honestly it was the best thing we could have done. It doesn't surprise me to learn that Norcold has taken this fridge out of production and has replaced it with a 12v compressor unit. Looks like that is the direction that the RV fridge industry is going.

Just curious why you went from a cougar to a Montana?
@Jonesin2Go
@Jonesin2Go 3 жыл бұрын
At the time, we purchased the Cougar primarily because it was within our budget. Secondly because of the layout that accommodated grandkids to go camping with us. And finally because at the time we were only making weekend camping trips. However, it didn't take long for us to realize that the grandkids didn't go as often as we thought and then we started wintering in Florida so we decided that the next rig we purchased would be about our needs. We researched build quality, floor plans and etc. and ultimately feel in love with the Montana.

So do you have similar quality issues with the cougar.? We are retired and are looking to purchase a cougar 290rls or a Montana 294rl. @Jonesin2Go 3 жыл бұрын
@@patw34n99 Regardless of the make, model or manufacturer, they all have their little issues and that can vary from one Montana (Cougar, Jayco, whatever) to the next regardless. The difference lies between the build materials, construction, features and finishing touches. The question is, how do you intend to use it. Some aren't built for fulltime living and others are. Hope that makes sense and is helpful.
